  • I personally believe that drinking water aids the fat loss process. I'm not a scientist and cannot verify the information I read about how it works (i.e., when you drink enough water, your liver doesn't need to help out the kidneys and can, instead, focus on the digestion/fat burning process)....but I do know that I get…
  • having the same clothes fit you better IS an NSV. When I started my journey, I was pushing the limits in my clothes....so the first losses just meant those clothes fit me better. Along the way on my journey, there have been times where, for example, I'd think "why don't size L shirts fit me yet...I shouldn't still be…
  • there are a lot of kicka$$ workouts on that site. If you do one of those workouts, you don't need to do anything else that day. Work hard for a short period of time is my motto.
  • HUGE difference. Keep up the hard work and stay fierce.
  • I use Optimum Nutrition's Gold Standard Whey Protein. I mix one scoop with 8 ounces of water. I love the Extreme Milk Chocolate flavor. Tastes great and mixes well (especially if you mix it in a Blender Bottle..which I 100% recommend). Here is a link to where I buy it (and shipping is super quick).…
  • between April and May last year, I did a 3+ week natural cleanse (it was supposed to be 4 weeks, but that last week was cut short). Anyway, during the first 2 weeks, I ate only veggies and drank only water....as many veggies as I wanted and I aimed for a gallon of water a day (sometimes 5 liters/day). The first day, I felt…
  • first of all, some of these comments are completely incorrect. science shows that most folks don't go into starvation mode for at least 72 hours. you don't need to eat every 2 to 4 hours to avoid starvation mode. Also, folks who do intermittent fasting the correct way usually have positive results. For 3 months (not…
  • do the activity in my will power pill blog and it should help you find the motivation to do the journey whole heartedly this time ;) http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/H_Factor/view/recipe-for-a-will-power-pill-for-help-with-the-mental-part-of-the-journey-155978
  • first, carbs are not the enemy...but certain carbs are better than other ones. When you eat carbs that have a high glycemic index value, an insulin release is triggered and this creates cravings for more sugary foods. Generally, any processed foods have carbs with high glycemic index values. so, if you limit processed…
  • take it one day at a time and do your best. over time, your body will adjust to fewer calories...especially if you're eating foods that give you more nutritious buck for your calorie bite (more on this in a bit). As someone suggested above, its probably best to set your goal to losing half a pound (or, at most, a pound)…
  • This is a valid point. For me, I only do crossfit when my boot camp instructor decides to do a crossfit routine instead of a more standard boot camp. I love either one because both kick my *kitten*. However, because our boot camp class is small, our instructor takes the time to show up the movement and makes sure we use…
  • crossfit is awesome. Its a group of exercises that you do for time. there are several different routines.
  • I recommend taking some time to do the activity in my will power blog. it will help you sustain motivation. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/H_Factor/view/recipe-for-a-will-power-pill-for-help-with-the-mental-part-of-the-journey-155978 Also, I strongly recommend coming up with some nutrition-related goals (i.e., log your…
  • if it were me, I'd like a 30 lb. medicine/smash ball :) seriously, though, its the 3rd date. it doesn't sound like you were planning to get him something. so, just because he got you something doesn't mean that a gift from you should be expected. do you want this possible relationship to be about quid pro quo...i.e., just…
  • yes, whole grains are better than white stuff...but I also try to limit whole grains as well. and I disagree that margerine is better for you than butter. margerine is a foreign substance as far as your body is concerned. obviously, butter should be limited, but in moderation, it is a healthy fat. Roughly 5 days each week,…
  • my cholesterol SUCKED at the beginning of my journey...and probably sucked at least a few years prior if I had it checked then. Anyway, with better diet and exercise, you can lower your cholesterol. You are welcome to check out my profile where it has the general rules I follow, plus links to my blog where I have some…
  • I made my decision to start my healthy lifestyle journey a bit before Thanksgiving last year. However, I knew that I would be doomed to fail if I tried to start during the holidays, so I waited until Jan. 23 to start (I also had some planned events the first two weeks in jan. that gave me further excuse to delay starting).…
  • there are a TON of bodyweight exercises you can do in your home. Go to youtube, type in "bodyweight exercises" and you will find a lot of stuff there. also check out bodyrock.tv for some SUPER FIERCE routines...and even if you don't do the routines, you can learn some bodyweight exercises by watching. All of this is free.
  • your shoes should provide proper support...whether you're just walking around the mall, going 3-3.5 mph on the treadmill, or running. For me, my shoes don't make it 18 months with giving proper support. I can't tell you if your current pair does or does not, but if they aren't shoes you could walk around in for an hour or…
  • you blast away fat by consuming a caloric deficit. You can't spot reduce...your body will decide where the fat is burned first and last. but, if you're persistent, you can burn all of the fat you want to burn. now, if you're asking for an exercise to help strengthen/tighten the inner thigh muscle so that its sleek once…
  • That's a great start. Keep working hard through the rest of this year. As for the jeans/pants your mom is getting you, tell her to return them and get you a size 40...or to give you the receipt and you will exchange them. Even if the 40s are a bit snug on you at first, its great motivation to have the next size waiting for…
  • the natural sugar that comes in fruit is inconsequential. I eat my fruit and I stopped tracking sugar because its BS to include natural sugars and refined sugars. Anyway, its the processed/refined sugars that you should limit. Also...its the calories that's most important.

  • Read my profile and you will see what keeps me motivated. Do the activity in my will power blog to find your own motivation> http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/H_Factor/view/recipe-for-a-will-power-pill-for-help-with-the-mental-part-of-the-journey-155978 as for burning 500-1000 calories through exercise, completely…
  • ^^ THIS ^^ You have to find something that you enjoy doing because that's the only way you'll stick with it. Exercise is about improving your cardio health and you can accomplish that a variety of ways. Try different things. For me, it would be difficult to consistently do the same workout. I would get bored. So my workout…
  • wow! you have kicked *kitten*! way to be fierce for 6 months. So far, I have dropped from 252 to 182 (-70), but I started back in late January. I had a bout of complacency around the 45 pound loss mark that lasted several months. Fortunately, I found the fierce again and started rocking again. That is so awesome that you…
  • Awesome story. You are such a WINNER...and you will have more WINNING going forward.
  • read this....it might help you find your fierce again... http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/H_Factor/view/recipe-for-a-will-power-pill-for-help-with-the-mental-part-of-the-journey-155978
  • why an elliptical? Its a solid exercise, but its just one exercise. My recommendation is that you walk and/or jog outside and use that money to buy yourself a nice weight bench and a set of adjustable dumbbells, along with a stability ball. You will then have a world of possibility as far as exercises.
  • those are some awesome tips! I normally follow #4, but yesterday, when I didn't have my lunch with me, I made very poor decisions and ate poorly. On #12, it took some time, but I have told myself that I CAN have a tight, toned body if I want one. #22 is VERY BIG with me...its what I tell most folks...that the mental part…
  • I understand your frustration, but I want to tell you that you are WINNING because you are still trying. Its my experience from reading these boards over several months that there are certain things that work great for some folks, but not so great for other folks. Part of the journey is trial and error...and giving…
