MFP ROCKS! Welcome aboard :)

its possible someone ordered the HRM not appreciating that you could select a different sized chest strap...or ordered it from a site that had "one size fits all". Here's one site that has THREE options for the chest strap. http://www.heartratemonitorsusa.com/polar-ft4f-purple.html I ordered an FT4 for my wife from this…

keep kicking *kitten*!

Last time I checked, Polar offered 2 chest straps...both are adjustable and the measurements were given on the website. basically, you need to take a tape measure and measure wherever you are going to put the chest strap...then figure out which chest strap you need to get. The importance of this is...if you get the bigger…

you didn't say how long your "plateau" has lasted, which is a significant part of the equation because there are times when the body needs to catch up with what we are doing. also, most folks burn more calories with steady state cardio work than resistance work. When you switched to more cardio work, did you also increase…

your body is probably fighting back and/or catching up. I think you should take 2-3 rest and recovery days per week...especially early on in the journey. Fact is that rest and recovery days are AS IMPORTANT TO PROGRESS as exercise days. If you aren't giving your body enough time to recover, then its going to fight you for…

Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Extreme Milk Chocolate. 24 g of protein, only 130 calories per serving, and tastes great! you can find it on amazon or bodybuilding.com. ships super fast. I mix mine only with water and its amazing...especially if you get a Blender Bottle to mix it with.

If only I knew that we were in the grace of God's presence. I bow before thee.

A few hours ago, I started yet another 24 hour fast. I don't tell others to fast, but for me, it has benefits. For those who care, below is a blog I wrote about my experience with IF a couple months after I started IF. For those who don't like IF, no biggie...its certainly not for everyone...many folks just don't have the…

I couldn't do this journey if pizza was forbidden. However, I've been able to learn that 2 slices fills me up and to stop (most of the time) at 2 slices. I understand for some folks, once the pizza hits the lips, its like the Frank the Tank scene where Frank couldn't stop at just one beer because it tasted so good :) I…

another short, but "fun" workout that you can do anywhere: 15 intervals of push-ups and jumping jacks as follows: 15 push-ups, 60 seconds of jumping jacks, 14 push-ups, 60 seconds of jumping jacks, 13 push-ups, 60 seconds of jumping jacks....all the way down to 1 push-up and 60 seconds of jumping jacks. Feel free to mix…

some fun exercises: the kong: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tdwoctl_U84 the ape step: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mJNJKwcgbI tabata-type routine. 24, 30 second intervals. Each interval is made up of a 20 second and a 10 second period. First 8 intervals: 20 seconds of bodyweight squats (I alternate shoulder width…

bodyweight exercises are a tremendous, and often overlooked, form of resistance training. In the last year, by doing searches on youtube and the web in general, I have learned quite a few bodyweight exercises that I incorporate into my workouts. One great source is bodyrock.tv. Although they use some equipment in many of…

you probably are not eating enough...or not giving your muscles enough time to heal...or both. but, I'd up your calories with some quality protein, healthy fats and low glycemic carbs

I think its fine that your boys ask these questions...it shows that you guys do things as a family and they are paying attention. My 8 year old daughter has, for a long time, asked if different foods are healthy and both of my kids have taken an interest in "exercising with me". Sometimes the four of us do an exercise…

I don't think you're eating enough. I checked your diary over the last week and you weren't within 100 calories of your target any day...some days you were well short of it. I recommend aiming to come within 75 calories of your target (either up or down) each day. Also, get some more protein going...will make a big…

you are not eating enough. aim to eat all of your calories + those you burn through exercise. right now, your body is probably in survival mode and storing everything you do eat.
-
Doesn't it feel amazing when you know that your hard work inspires others :) I know that it gives me an extra push.
-
you have been such a rock star on the journey, Faye...and the results (thus far) are obvious. Now, no time to sit down and celebrate or get complacent...keep doing what you're doing and know that you are going to achieve whatever you want to achieve :)
-
I look at my profile page on MFP daily because I've listed all of the things I hated about being fat...and when I recall those things, it makes me angry and want to keep bringing the fierce to achieve my goal....living healthy
-
all you can do is remain persistent and consistent. your body, sadly, determines where you will lose the weight from. spot reducing is a myth. just know if you stay with it, you will dump those unwanted fat cells all over!
-
Amazing results so far. Keep up the excellence!
-
I used to weigh in daily....then twice a week...then weekly and now, monthly (tomorrow is my weigh-in day...lucky me). seriously, the scale does not dictate your progress, but it sure can eff with your head. when that little number doesn't move down, some folks sound the 4 a.m. alarm in their head, eat emotionally, and…

1. Your hard work inspires others. 2. Inspiring others feels great! 3. Stay fierce my friend!

I cut out caffeine last April and, after the first few days of some caffeine-withdrawal-related headaches, I have felt nothing short of AMAZING being without that crap. As long as I get enough sleep, I have more energy on water than I had on caffeine. Stick with it through this first week and you are going to love yourself…

I think your trainer is a buffoon. EFF the target heart range. HIIT and other interval exercise works! new science shows that...as well as the effects you can see for yourself. when I exercise, I push hard. If I had to stay under 130 HR, I'd be bored. LOL!
-
once you believe you can, you will.
-
amazing progress. great job staying dedicated and persistent.

unless you're fairly trim to begin with, focusing on "standard" ab exercises isn't going to do a whole lot for you. you're much better off doing compound exercises that have a wider range of motion and burn more fat. you see...despite what the infomercials lead you to believe...you can't spot reduce. you can only make a…
