I was just wondering...do you use the VSG support board on obesityhelp.com? I love that site...I'm on there as much as MFP and there is a lot of wisdom and encouragement you can get from the vets who are on there daily.

Hello fellow VSG'er! :) I was sleeved in March 2012, down 92 lbs so far and still trying to be concious about my carb intake. I'm sure you already know that ALOT (not all) of the weight loss surgery community preaches under 40 carbs a day during the weight loss phase, but to each his/her own. At the end of the day, the…

I totally agree! :) I'm much more interested in reading about nutrition and weight loss than stuff facebook

exactly-very true! I made mine loaded (sweet potatoes) last night and it was about 240calories total (for two halves) with chicken, bacon and smothered with cheese :) I love finding healthy meals that make you feel like you are splurging!

Since having bariatric surgery, I weigh myself daily, first thing in the morning after using the bathroom, with underwear on or no clothes. It may seem obsessive to some, but alot of the people in my support group find it beneficial to do it daily. I want to see how daily eating habits, water intake, time of the month and…

I made Loaded Sweet Potato Skins last night for dinner...1 skin was 122 calories (carbs 7, fat 4, protein 12) loaded with chicken breast, bacon and smothered in cheese. I used lean chicken breast, center cut pork bacon, reduced fat sharp cheddar cheese, topped with plain 0% Fage greek yogurt. the pic shows regular white…

I use my different flavor protein powders to make all types of treats...no bake cream cheese cake, peanut butter chocolate balls or bars, oatmeal cookies, etc. They are amazing, low cal, no sugar, low carb sweet snacks. I have recipes if you want.

or maybe even 6+ small meals a day. Grazing throughout the day can devestate your calorie intake for the day. Maybe you can plan several small meals (high protein too keep you full, low fat/low carb), eating every 2-3 hours, tons of water in between each to help if you get hungry in between. Think of each time you eat as a…

I want to buy some home equipment and always wondered about this machine. Is it really worth it? Or what about the Total Gym that Chuch Norris advertises on the infomercial? I want a couple things at home so I can cancel my gym membership.

Half a Taco Salad -1/4 cup of ground beef/ground turkey meat with heavy taco seasing (too much sodium :( - reduced fat mexican cheese -ALOT of FAGE plain greek yogurt (my substitute for sour cream-AMAZING!) -2tbs Ken's Lite Red Wine Vinegar and Olive Oil dressing -1/2 cup of raw spinach 189 Calories

Greek Yogurt...way more protein, less fat.

I'm assuming the salad has way more veggie than meat. For some, the salad may be a slider food (it being mostly water, gets chewed up and goes straight through pyloric valve, not spending any time in the stomach to help longer satiety). The meat alone would fill anyone up more. Eggs are not as high in protein, (mabye 7…

4'10" Current weight 135lbs size 6 My goal is 119lbs-110lbs I aim for 800 calories a day...sometimes I go a little over 1,000, but usually not too much more. I had weight loss surgery last year, so no, I will NOT die b/c I eat less than 1200 calories a day :) I've been lazy the past few months, no working out. But i NEED…

With weight loss surgery, due to the emphasis on high protein and less space in the tummy, by default, you become a low carber. So I'm not surprised she would be working with Atkins. She was used to low carbing due to the surgery, whether she had it removed or not. The low carbing is one of the biggest things that would…

What's your protein goal daily? I'm a bariatric patient (weight loss surgery) and we are taught to strive for a MINIMUM of 70-80 grams of protein per day. I've also seen that the rule of thumb for any person's protein intake is multiply the body weight in kilograms by .8, or weight in pounds by .37. This is the number of…

The thought of living without bacon...dreadful!

I had the sleeve surgery. It's just a restrictive surgery, no malabsorption like gastric bypass. I'm sure that I will eventually get up to 1200 to maybe even 1600 calories a day as i get further out and remain in maintenance. I totally understand the need to reach a caloric goal that will provide all the daily nutrients. I…

I had weight loss surgery. For bariatric patients, the majority of the first year is 600-800 calories daily. There isn't much stomach space to get in more. We survive, get plenty full, and as long as the food choices are nutritionally dense, all levels come out just fine. I imagine someone with a small appetite who chooses…

Greek yogurt, center cut bacon, tilapia/tuna/salmon/chicken breast, and spinach; some combination of these at any time of day. I usually do not stray unless I make something (shake, muffins, pancakes, etc) with my protein powder.

I use Body Fortress whey protein powder mix. They have cookies n cream, chocolate and chocolate peanut butter. I make protein cookies/bars by adding oatmeal, egg, etc. and then bake. I also use it to make pancakes. GNC also has the Crunch Pro Lite protein bars (make sure it's the "lite" version) and there is a chocolate…

I had sugar free popscicles, sugar free jello/pudding,sugar free apple sauce, oatmeal, grits, greek yogurt at the beginning. Then i moved to heavier soups, chicken/tuna salad, tilapia, etc, then to more solids. It was a very detailed plan but my surgeon didnt use a "mushy" phase. It was like liquid to soft to gradual…

Congrats on your date. I hope you LOVE your sleeve. Most people do! I was sleeved on March 13, 2012. I have lost about 91lbs; started at 226lbs, currently 135lbs, size 18/20 to size 5/6. My goal is about 110lbs, but I'm not working so hard on the actual weight loss now as much since a size 5/6 is quite comfortable right…
