  • Something else that isn't taken into account is daily activity level. I work on a computer helpdesk and take calls all day on Saturday and Sunday for 12 hrs. That doesn't allow much activity at all. On those days I make sure that I keep between 1200-1300 calories so I don't gain weight. I don't get hungry on those days at…
  • Ask yourself why you are doing this, who you are doing this for and what makes you need to do this and you will get all the motivation you need. My why is because I'm 140 pounds over weight and if I don't lose this weight I will be vulnerable for having diabetes, cancer, heart disease, and all the other things associated…
  • Whatever you get, take half of it and put it in another plate to take home or give to someone else. That way you can choose your portion size.
  • If I eat anything at night it's something low in calorie and high in water like grapes or grape tomatoes then drink about 8 ounces of water behind it.
  • Eat at least half of your calories and drink your 8 cups preferably more of water. Straight water. Coffee or tea doesn't count. I was at a plateau the same as you at 15lbs of loss the same as you and couldn't lose. I upped my water and started eating a bit more and I breached that plateau right away.
  • It really depends on how your workout is going over the past week. If you have been working out pretty well, I'd say the carbs are fine but if you've been kind of slack on working out then you can always enjoy your steak with whatever you'd like. This week we have company from out of town and yesterday I had a cheeseburger…
  • Think high colors. Cooked baby carrots, a salad with tomatoes, maybe some corn(on the cob or off). Just make sure you make the steak only 1 third of your meal with the rest veggies.
  • How much do you need to lose? I'm currently in a support group called TOPIC: Need to lose 100 lbs. or more? Lets start a group. Anyone can join at any time. All you need to do is post.
  • Welcome back. I can really use your advice to lose my 100 or so pounds. Feel free to add me.
  • I'm trying to snag somebody rich by making my profile pic as great as I can possibly get it. I know I'm married but anyone would just fall in love with me with just a glance at my profile pic. P.S. I'm married and of course I don't care what people think(much). If people are here to snag a wife or husband then they need to…
  • I just hit a plateau myself. I stopped losing weight and actually gained 3 pounds within 1 week. I found that I wasn't drinking enough water. I increase my intake from my average 2 8 oz cups to 8 cups and not only lost the three pounds but started losing weight again. I've been at this for about 2 months and have lost 22…
  • That's awesome! Learn from what you've done and move on. Whatever you do DON'T and I'll repeat DON'T give up. This past week my weight has been yoyoing a bit too and I've felt discouraged like everyone else would. You're not alone on this.
  • Good job on changing your diet. What do you drink instead of soda? Fruit juices and juice drinks can have as much if not more sugar in them than soda. Try to drink more water and make sure you're measuring everything.
  • Its really up to you whether you want to stay or go but I would ask you to stay. You've already lost 7 pounds which is half way to your goal and the closer to your ideal weight that you get the slower the weight will come off. Just give it a little more time and I'm sure you'll notice things start to move for you again.
  • Oh BTW I'm 6" tall(true), body like Brad pit(yeah right! my left leg weights more than he does) and I'm filthy rich(filthy maybe not rich)
  • Thanks! I think its pretty much because we won't try to BS you into thinking we're something we're not.
  • NO MATTER HOW SLOW YOU GO, YOUR STILL GOING FASTER THAN THE PERSON WHO IS STILL ON THE COUCH ^^^I love that!

  • Answer these questions: Why do you want this weight off? Who are you doing this for? What will happen if you quit? Then tell yourself to suck it up and get off your butt and do something, ANYTHING that gets your heart pumping. I always feel in a better mood when the sweat is starting to bead on my forehead and I can feel…

  • I disagree to an extent. You shouldn't even consider getting out of this. It's not an option. You can and will do this. You're worth every pound you take off and every ounce of hard work you dish out. Keep up the mind set and you'll go far!
  • I would weigh myself naked too but I don't want to scare the neighbors or any animals that are creeping around outside.
  • Whatever you're comfortable doing. I personally have three scales that I can weigh myself on but I do my official weighing on the scale at the gym. Just make sure you weigh on the same scale every time at the same time of day with the same clothes. The key is be consistent with everything but your weight loss which you…
  • That's exactly what I thought when I tried at the beginning. I was 340 lbs and now I'm down to 318. The weight didn't come off at all at first but I kept counting calories and working with the deficit and started moving instead of watching tv all day and all night long. The first two weeks I had absolutely no weight loss.…
  • What can't I live without? Hmm... Peanut butter, bacon, and american cheese are my serious weaknesses. If I could I would eat peanut butter and bacon and cheese in some kind of sandwich combo all day long. As it is I haven't had american cheese, bacon or more than a half sandwich of peanut butter in a month and a half. I…
  • Small changes. Start going through your kitchen and cleaning out all the bad stuff. If you want to do the hard calorie counting tomorrow, fine but get prepared. Afterwards, go for a 20 minute walk and think about why you're doing this and who you're doing it for. If you haven't done so, work on your MFP profile and take it…

  • I've always red that non processed fruits and veggies are the healthiest things you can eat. Go for it!
  • Totally agree with hmonsterx. This weekend I had 1 s'more(graham cracker-campfire roasted marshmallow and chocolate bar sandwich) which I never thought I could have and lose weight. It actually put me just below my calorie allowance for the day which made me feel even better about doing it. Just don't over do it and log…
  • That is so true. We all have bad days and just want to throw in the towel. I was watching my calories and working out regularly and lost 15 pounds. I relaxed one week and didn't work out as much and stopped logging my calories and voila! I gained 5 pounds in a week. I was so excited the week before that I was finally under…
  • I've been on MFP for about a month and a half. I've been at a plateau for about a week after a quick weight loss of 22 pounds. I'm not noticing any measurement changes but I ring that I wear all the time is falling off of my hand and my wedding ring which now makes a groove in my hand is starting to actually fit better.…
  • Get the all clear from the doctor first before starting any work out. Especially after a heart attack.
