  • Very interesting, OP. If you decide to go back to hip thrusting or a variant after you heal, I wonder if switching to glute bridges might help. They're so similar but I am wondering if having your back on the floor might all the bar to be in a slightly different spot than it is when you are hip thrusting. It might not work…
  • There's absolutely no sane and healthy way to do this unless you are approximately 350 lbs.
  • Plan ahead. It will likely take awhile for you to really figure it out but the easiest way I've found to be sure I hit my macro goals is by taking a few minutes each night to pre-log the next day. Also, if you drink milk and it fits in your budget, Fairlife milk is great.
  • You are much more accommodating than me. I would let him not eat dinner but request that he at least sit at the table and take part in the dinner conversation. I think you have compromised plenty. He has somebody making his food, portioning it out, and agreeing to eat the same lunch he does each day. The only thing he has…
  • I use Fitnotes. I go back and try pen and paper once in awhile but I like the calculator and rest timer in Fitnotes.
  • You are not a tube of toothpaste. Squeezing in one spot won't fill out another spot.
  • My problem is not liking how I look in a swimsuit, not worrying about how other people think I look in one. There's a difference.
  • Yes, I see those retro suits and think oh how cute. But then I put them on and think yeesh, blech. Last time I found a pair of swim shorts that fit fairly well and after a long of searching I found a tank style top in an athletic fit that worked. My biggest problem is stretched out skin that wants to pop out over my…
  • I absolutely hate it. I am not a cry-er. It's actually a bit of a family joke about how not emotional I tend to be. But I cry every time when it comes to getting or wearing a swimsuit. I have a beach trip coming up in June and I'm trying not to think about it.
  • How long has it been since you've seen movement on the scale? If it's been more than 3-4 weeks, eat less. It doesn't matter if you use a scale or not. Take what you are eating now and eat less of it. Whether you are using an actual weighed amount of food or not, eat less. I mean, if you measure your 2 tablespoons of PB…
  • I lost my first 30 something pounds without using a food scale. It's definitely possible. I would still suggest keeping a food log and being very honest about what you're eating if you go this route. It will make it easier to cut back further when your loss starts to slow.
  • Shrimp kabobs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir fried. Pineapple shrimp, lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp...

  • This made me laugh. You are likely correct.
  • My scale is up or down every day. It's normal and nothing to be concerned about.
  • Stress increases cortisol, which can lead to water retention. However, there's a limit to how much water you will retain (i.e., not all gained weight is going to be water.) Being tired and stress is going to make you feel hungry and make you less inhibited about eating. In other words, you are likely eating more than you…
  • Right. I did an in depth investigation (i.e., I googled "brazilian seed") and then zoomed in on the image and that's all I can figure out. They look like chips of Brazil nuts to me. I can only think of one other Brazilian seed and it's definitely not that.
  • These are just Brazil nuts, right?
  • Skin tightens when given time to tighten. It can take a couple of years after you hit your goal weight for you skin to tighten up to it's "this is it" point. How much it tightens will vary by person, based on age (younger=more elastic skin), how big you were, and genetics. Congrats on the big loss!

  • Some people like to focus more on one aspect of their physique or fitness more than others (e.g., chest, glutes, back, etc.) Other than possibly putting a bit more focus on one area or another, any good program will have you doing variations on a few common movements (push, pull, squat, hip hinge, etc.)
  • Hard to tell without more info. It's possible you were carrying some water weight due to eating at 1300 for an extended period. Or you could have lost water weight due to less exercise. Or you could have been more active than normal. The possibilities are endless.
  • I started out with walking as my only exercise. Over a period of months I added bodyweight exercises, switched to walk/run intervals, and started lifting weights. Now I prefer long walks or hiking or biking on days when I don't lift.
  • Is it a new package? Look to see how many ounces are in the entire package and then eat the appropriate fraction of a package. By that I mean that if the entire package is supposed to have 8 oz of turkey, eat 1/4 of the package. That is what I do. I know that in the end I am going to eat the entire package so if I actually…
  • Marika brand has a few styles with high waists.
  • First, make sure that your goal is reasonable, meaning that you aren't aiming at too low of a number. I like .4 grams per pound of bodyweight as a starting place. Then once you eat that for awhile you can move it up or down based on preference. (This assumes you are using the MFP standard goals right now and haven't…

  • The above is a lot of excuses. People of all ages can make excuses--school, homework, work, kids, eldercare, etc. If it is a priority, you will find a way to make it work. If it's not a priority, that's fine--there's no moral failing in not prioritizing doing what you need to do to lose weight, sometimes it's just not the…
  • If you are a woman and haven't lost anything over the course of one menstrual cycle (period to period), drop your calories. If you don't have periods, drop calories if you haven't lost anything in 6-8 weeks. Quiksylver's suggestion to get a food scale is a good way to track and drop calories. If you haven't already been…

  • I have no idea if this would work with you but I tell myself that I don't like the pastries at work and at conferences. For the most part it is true. They are usually generic food service pastries that don't actually taste that great. I'd rather save my calories for something that actually tastes good. Take a different…
  • If you don't have visible abs at your height/weight, it's because you don't have a sufficient muscle base. Eat more and build some muscle. It will take a long time so you'll have to be patient.
  • He mean running as in doing, following, etc. Similar to how you say "the engine is running". It's not an engine jogging down the street. It's an engine doing the work it's supposed to do.
  • Google "serving size chart" and look at the image results. You'll get a bunch that show you how to estimate serving sizes with your hand, finger, comparing size to a deck of cards, etc. Other than that, trying to pick mostly what I'll call "whole foods", for lack of a better term, is what I do.
