Remember, your body is ALWAYS having to maintain those muscles, even if you broke them down a little yesterday. I would say that a protein shake is fine, but if you are getting ample protein without it, you may want to forego it on rest days, to keep yourself from getting tired of the flavor. I don't really know why this…

Sprouts, hummus, sliced tomato, avocado, arugula or baby spinach. Spicy tofu with mild greens and avocado. Grilled or roasted red peppers/yellow squash/eggplant (all three together is good, too), goat cheese or feta, avocado or hummus, sundried tomatoes, fresh greens. Almond butter, banana, and honey. Grilled mushrooms and…

By the way, are you seriously plugging a juicer in a completely irrelevant topic?

I actually have been eating really healthy for a few years, just too much healthy food haha. I know I'm at a healthy weight, but honestly, since I started gaining, I've been so uncomfortable in my body. It just doesn't feel like MY body anymore, you know? I want to be the size I used to be, I just want to be stronger in it…

Thanks! For now, I'll set it for 125.

How do I figure out my weight percentage?

I try not to eat so much processed food. I realize cheese and yogurt are processed, but they have been with us for thousands of years, so I can't be all bad. I try to buy organic dairy products and meat, and keep them to a minimum. I try to eat mostly whole grains, vegetables and fruit. As far as canned foods go, I don't…

This makes sense...kind fo hard to estimate your daily activity level though when taking rest days into account and such. All I know is that eating below my BMR does freak me out.

Vodka and grapefruit juice. Heaven. I find the vodka and diet soda drinks dehydrate me really fast, but they are tasty.

But if you want something relatable, here you go. I used to love drinking. I'd go out drinking, day-drink with friends, drink before night shifts. I had a really good body when I started, and actually lost weight when I first started drinking a ton, those first few months. It all caught up to me though. At a certain point,…

Binge drinking is the worst. I have a couple friends who have problems with that, and the only advice I can give you is to stop. You need to seriously reflect on your relationship with alcohol and why you drink. No one, especially at your height and weight, should need more than a couple drinks to have an enjoyable…

I think so. I usually drink a small glass of water beforehand, and then another 6-8 ounces of water during. Is that enough? I'll try drinking more water afterward, and see if that makes the headache go away faster. That would definitely make it clear.

The fake estrogen increases your appetite. I took a month off of Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo and lost almost a pound a week over the summer. I went back on it, and while my loss has been slower, it's still happening. Just got to make every workout count :)

I've heard of it and think it sounds really interesting. I like the idea of strength training being preferential to cardio. I've started only doing intense cardio for warm-ups instead of the bulk of the workout. I probably should actually read the book before I decide to follow it haha.

Exercise is good, but so is rest! As you approach your goal, you also have to just be patient. Your weight loss is going to slow down. I've started trying to build muscle instead of create a calorie deficit lately, as I'm in a similar situation.

Two words: Sale and frozen. It seems like every time I go to Whole Foods, they have some fancy leafy green, usually organic, on sale for two dollars. So, I buy that and that's my green of choice for the next few days. I discovered kale this way, and now I'm hooked. It's so dense that one bunch made a massive salad I…

I agree with LeanMachineDream, Pop Pilates is actually really fun. It's low impact, but it's also really hard. Another good low impact, quiet exercise to do at home is yoga. Also, once you have the mat, ANY exercise you do on it is going to be more quiet for your neighbors. I live on the top floor of an old apartment…

I guess you can count them, but I never do except for herbal tea. Because tea and even decaf coffee do have a low level of caffeine, I try to drink a glass of water afterward.

B vitamins are good, but Ive also heard excellent things about vitamin c in different studies. Skip the confusion and take a good mutlivitamin :)

All I can suggest is to try and incorporate more whole grains. You're eating really healthy, but sometimes when you eat more of those, it helps. More vegetables are always good too-raw ones in a salad are best, or make a nice soup. But it's not just food. I think it's great you're running, but cardio is only one side of…

Didn't we all kind of know this already? I mean, we all know that our body gets a certain tolerance to different levels of exercise as we lose weight and get stronger. We might not have had these numbers, but hopefully we're all planning to keep working hard at this for the long haul. Exercise and healthy eating isn't just…

I have done detox a couple of times and I found it really helps. The term "detox" can be very extreme, which is why a lot of people have adverse reactions to it. But it can be a very balanced, filling, natural process. Your body WILL naturally detox, but sometimes you might feel like it would be nice to speed that up a…

Can't say for sure, except that it's different for everyone. Hormones are tricky. I took a month off of birth control over summer to get a head start on weight loss and it seemed to help. But I've noticed my body change more in the last couple weeks than I have in a long time, just from working out and watching what I eat,…

I've also heard that you should eat the same number of grams of protein as pounds that you weigh. I personally don't think it's very beneficial for weight loss, but it is ideal for building muscle fast. Personally, I could never eat that much protein and I think that for anyone, it would get to be a bit rough on your body…
