The gravy included in this recipe (has its own page in the OSG cookbook) is the best gravy everrrr http://ohsheglows.com/2012/02/26/cozy-millet-bowl-with-mushroom-gravy-and-kale/

You need to eat more food. Netting less than 1200 a day will mess up your metabolism for the long haul. Trust me.

I eat out all the time. I order in all the time. I don't think that eating in a restaurant instantly makes a meal bad...mmmm sushi, mmmm roasted chicken, mmmm pho (well the sodium in pho is messed up, but whatever.) My boyfriend and I love cooking, but we both work crazy hours and sometimes it's just not worth screwing up…

Someone earlier mentioned pop pilates/blogilates. Those videos are great! I don't really know which exercises to recommend...I do a few with 2 and 6 lb weights, but I'm no trainer. It's easy to hurt yourself with weights if no one shows you the proper way to lift them. How would you feel about taking up a little yoga at…

Note, they less said to eat less meat, not to become raw vegan or even vegetarian.
-
Yes! My boyfriend thinks it's really funny. I'm not too embarrassed though. Just slow down next time and enjoy.

Just drink a gin and tonic instead-more bang for your calorie buck! Jk...kind of... I won't give up wine. But I will say that MFP is definitely steering me not to drink wine or beer before/with dinner anymore. I still let myself have wine when I go out for dinner though, because like...why would you let good food taste…

Psssst. Go organic if you can. Even if you're not a believer, it usually tastes way better.

First of all, like one of the above posters said, your body is not a calculator. It is unique. Study after study says birth control is fine and dandy, but everyone knows someone whose body can't tolerate it. That's why they made entire other types of contraceptives (progestone-only, IUD's, etc.) because someone women…

This is different for everyone. Even on a low dose bcp, weight creeps on fast. Like, 15 lbs in one summer fast. My body can't deal with the estrogen. Progesterone only pills worked well for me, asides from my breasts getting bigger (and super tender ouch). I never tried depo, but that's also progesterone only, and I lot of…

In my personal experience, the pill does really, truly change my metabolism. Not my appetite, not my water, retention, my metabolism. The last time I went on it, I had to stop because I kept getting yeast infections and awful headaches. Even after 3 months, I still was nauseous every morning. For me, I'm naturally estrogen…

Recovery days are awesome...necessary laziness... Sometimes I feel bad about being a slug on rest days. If you have time after work, you could do gentle yoga, or take a 30 minute walk (weather permitting).
-
I'm using MyDailyBurn and it told I burned 400 calories yesterday in 30 minutes. I do not trust! MFP specifically seems to give whole lot of credit to cardio...I've never understood how "yoga" is a one intensity fits all calorie burner. I don't know what kind of yoga y'all are doing, but I sweat and shake my *kitten* off…

Has anyone been doing a specific program long enough to see results? Or shall we just stick to the truth that any exercise is good exercise?
-
It could be too intense, or you may not have eaten enough first. The cobination of those two would often get me feeling pukey mid-kickboxing class.
-
For this reason, I just pick light light for everything. I figure it's better safe than sorry. For example, if I do ten minutes of jumping/running around for cardio, and then alternate free weights, calisthenics, with spurts of cardio thrown in HIIT style, I just log it as mild/moderate effort calisthenics. I figure it's…

Crank up the music and dance.

A sports therapist once helped me with this, when I was wondering how to engage my core during running and stuff. If you have a good sense of where your hip bones are, use them to measure. With your index fingers, tap two inches to the left of your right hip bone, and two inches to the right of your left hip bone, so…

I haven't done aerial but I want to....I can tell you that regular yoga usually whips me into shape after I've fallen out of it. So we can be yogi friends if you want!
-
I'm wondering about this too! I can't afford a gym at the moment and it's way too cold/icy/slippery to just go for a run.
-
I second this! I've never been one to gush over fitness stars but Cassey Ho is amazing...I even follow her on in Instagram haha. Her channel is blogilates and/or pop Pilates. Those videos will leave you sore! Highly recommend.

Mavajo- I guess I'll be doing that then. I totally respect your dietary choices and don't by any means expect you to be anything other than healthy. It's just that my personal health history has left me with more concerns than most young people.

Thanks to everyone who was helpful and respectful! Telhanies- Greek yogurt is in the no no list, trying to avoid as much dairy as possible. WalkingAlong-have you found one you like?

Gia, thank you!

That's true, I forgot that about cholesterol in eggs being ok. It's just such a scary number on the box! My concerns about animal protein are pretty well qualified in my opinion. I've read a lot of studies both for and against, but I'm current undergoing a pre-cancer treatment so I'd rather not take the risk.…
-
Thanks jgnatca! Eggs are a good choice....I do eat them sometimes although the cholesterol in the yolks freaks me out....but I think starting the day with a park yolk and lots of whites omelette sounds great...thank you!

You get out of bed in the morning and almost collapse because your calves HATE you for that run you did one or two days ago.

God bless Trader Joe's. Their frozen brown rice makes me\y life so much easier.

I agree with everyone else that the sodium content is obscene. Also, if you read the label, you'll usually find a whole lot of preservatives. In a strictly calorie-conscious way, they're fine, but if you're trying to incorporate more clean, whole foods, they're not so great. That being said, if you don't have a ton of time…

For back and shoulder's I'll usually do cat and cow, and child's pose. If it's really bad, I'll either take an Ibuprofen (reduced inflammation too) or apply some topical Arnica gel.
