  • Hey Everyone! I'm slightly new to low-carb, but I've done it before and it really works for me (I'm a type 1 diabetic). Today, I had: B: Atkins dark chocolate shake L: Huge salad from the salad bar at work with a chicken breast that had about a tbsp of honey bbq sauce on it, 2 string cheese sticks S: Atkins Advantage bar…
  • It is homemade chili with ground beef, crushed tomatoes, 2 cans of kidney beans, onions, green bell peppers, and spices. No sugar, cornstarch, flour, etc. The beans are the main culprit, so we'll see how this week goes! Thanks for the response :)
  • Oh and yes, I am soooo sick of eggs! I only eat them on the weekends now with some turkey bacon/sausage, and then have cottage cheese and jello or an Atkins shake during the week. So far, I'm not sick of cottage cheese yet!
  • I've been doing SB for about a month and I've lost only 5 lbs....I think this diet works better for me because I have diabetes, but I really wish I could lose more!! I have been eating chili for the past 2 weeks for lunch, and it has 50 carbs per serving, so I'm wondering if that is the issue. I am going to incorporate…
  • I got my FitBit from Best Buy the other day and so far it's been great. I haven't worked out with it on, but from what I've read in other posts, you can wear an HRM and log your exercise on MFP (make sure to note your start time so that FitBit can take away the calorie burn for that duration) or you can just let the FitBit…
  • You could totally get a lean piece of steak (filet, sirloin, etc.) and be fine. Just don't get the 10 oz one and maybe get a salad to fill up on beforehand. Have fun!
  • Me, me me!! I'm on an insulin pump and am doing a low carb diet because carbs do not agree with me! It's worked wonders and I've never felt better!! Feel free to add me everyone!
  • Hey Everyone! I'm new-ish to this group as well and thought I'd chime in (even though I'm kinda late). I rarely ever say anything on the boards bc I'm afraid of what people will respond with regarding my LC choice. We all are different; we have different needs, different doctor's orders, etc. If I'm asking a specific…
  • I made a huge pot of chili last night for lunches this week...I <3 chili! This is my recipe: 1 lb or so of ground turkey 2 cans of beans, rinsed and drained (I used kidney, but you can use whatever you like) 1 28 oz can of stewed tomatoes 1 small onion, diced 2 green peppers, diced 2 cloves of garlic, minced 1 pkg of…
  • If I don't eat enough of the right things for breakfast, I am hungry for the rest of the day! Eggs, cottage cheese, greek yogurt...these are all things that have protein to keep you full longer. I feel like if I don't start off my day with some of these things, I can never 'catch up' and end up eating a bunch of junk by…
  • I try to! During the week I usually plan better than on the weekends...I'll make a big pot of chili and separate it into 5 containers for lunch every day, and then the night before each workday I'll put everything together. It's so much easier to see where I need to add/take away calories when I have it all laid out…
  • Looks like you have some awesome suggestions, but wanted to add edamame...I love this as a snack! I am a sucker for potato chips, so the crunchy edamame totally helps with the chip cravings :)
  • I'm always over on protein and sodium...every once in awhile I'll be over on fat too, but not by much. I also think the protein target is really low.
  • Thanks everyone....I will think about adding a piece of fruit to my diet this week.
  • Today I had some cottage cheese and a SF jello because I couldn't be bothered with eggs...it filled me up for a little while :)
  • Today the hubs grilled steaks (even though it was 20 degrees outside) and we had green beans and a salad on the side...so yummy!! I definitely need breakfast options...I'm so sick of eggs!
  • What a great way to have tuna! Thanks for the idea!!

  • I'm 28 and this is my third week on MFP...everyone add me!!! I need tons of support bc I tend to fall off the wagon often :-(
  • Welcome holey! I am on my second week with SBD and so far so good!!! Feel free to add me if you'd like....we can support each other :-)
  • Well that stinks that it isn't free, but it would be nice to get some meal ideas because I get so bored when I eat the same thing over and over!
  • For protein options that you can snack on during class, try roasted chickpeas. You can flavor them with a salty mixture or Splenda brown sugar/cinnamon if you have a sweet tooth. These are my new fave snack to eat at work!
  • Elliptical!!! I feel so much more accomplished on an elliptical bc I can go further...and it's not as boring because you're doing something with your arms as well :)
  • I'm doing well today....had 3 egg muffins, then a huge salad with tuna for my protein (I love feta and walnuts in my salads). I had a string cheese for a snack and I'm going to have my sugar free jello right now then dinner later! (Chicken and brocolli with a dijon sauce of chicken broth, soy sauce, and dijon mustard) Is…
  • Hey Ladies (and Gents if I've missed anyone)! I'm currently 254 and I started over 260. Crossing the 250 lb mark and not being able to fit in my size 20 jeans really did it for me! I have type 1 diabetes and insulin resistance and DH and I want to have kids soon, so I need to do this for myself. I'm currently on the South…
  • I am doing SB right now...I'm on week 2 of phase 1 and it's working so far. I do have to mention, though, that I have type 1 diabetes and insulin resistance so this diet is really helping with that.
  • Hey Everyone! I just happened upon this thread from a search on South Beach, and I was so glad to find it! I am a week into phase 1 and so far so good. I am getting tired of eggs, but I really want to do at least 3 weeks of phase 1 because I'm really addicted to sugar. I have type 1 diabetes and insulin resistance, so this…
  • I would have to also jump on the "eggs in a muffin tin" bandwagon...last night I made 12 of them with 9 large eggs, 1/4 cup cheddar cheese, 2 turkey sausage links, 2 turkey bacon strips, and 1/2 slice of ham....I made 4 of each kind of meat and then put the cheese in all of them....375 degrees for 25-30 mins or until…
  • I agree with the PP's....I HAVE to prepare my meals and snacks and bring them to work or else I will be in big trouble! It really helps me to stay on track and that way, everything is already planned out for me!
  • My new face snack is roasted chickpeas...I roast them at 400 degrees for 40 mins and give them a shake every 10 mins...then I top them with olive oil cooking spray and Spike seasoning....so good!
