I find the same thing. Watch if you are pushing mostly with yours toes. I try to keep my feet as flat as possible. It seems to help. If anyone else has ideas let us know.

Hi JinxJinx: I got my weight vest about 20 years ago from a person who was trying to market them (he was not successful at the time). I have seen them at Target aand Walmart. I am sure the sports stores have them as well. If you don't want to spend the money, take a backpack (preferably one with a chest strap) and add some…

Check your HRM against this formula from livestrong.com For males, estimate the calories that you burned during your exercise session. This is given by the equation C = (0.6309 x H + 0.09036 x W + 0.2017 x A -- 55.0969) x T / 4.184. C is the number of calories that you burned, H is your average heart rate, W is your…

I forgot to mention that I use an old HRM that does not calculte calories, so I do it.

I have only been counting the calories when I am in my workout zone. When I hit my heart rate zone, I start the stop watch, when I drop below during cool down I stop the stop watch. I have an old HRM that does not do the calories so after working out I pull out the calculator. I found this formula on Livestrong.com C =…

smalltowngirl504. Start slow. You don't need a gym or fancy weights. Commit to walking in place or using a step (just up and down) for 10 minutes today. You can do this while watching TV, the time will fly. Once you did today give yourself a big hug. Tomorrow do another 10 minutes. If you miss tomorrow, do it the day…

Thank you. I appreciate your inut. As you say the machine, MFP and the formula are relatively close. As I don't always use a machine I think I will stick to the formula for consistancy sake.

I like using salsa instead of salad dressing. Adds an extra zing and very few calories.

Hi Sprinkles77: My adult family does not want to make changes in thier eating either. I can't impose on them but I can control me. I really watch what I am eating during the day at work and drink lots of water. I still cook the things they, and face it I like, but I eat less at supper and try not to do seconds. I also try…

Thank you everyone. The elliptical machine I use asks for weight and does have HRM built into the handles. It may be off, but the scale says I am down 4 pounds since last week. I will take this with a grain of salt and assume only 2 pounds of real fat loss, since I know weight can vary. I want to see a progessive downward…

Hi: I just started this week. On day 2 I was so discouraged that I had blown my caloriesI was crying. The support I got from this board was amazing. I encouraged me and made me realize this is a journey not a sprint. It took me 3 decades to go from the body I had (and want back) to the body I have now. Okay I know I may…

Thank you everyone for your replies. I do feel a bit better. I realize that this is going to be an on-going journey but better than the high blood pressure medication that if I don't change I will have to start taking (blood pressure is borderline right now so I don't want it to go higher). LaurieEReid: Thank you for…

Hi BarefootDriver: You sound just like me. I got on the scale over the weekend and have gained about 5 pounds in the past 2 months, ouch. Spent a sleepless night feeling fat. Decided to do something about it, again. I started day one exercise today, only the 54th or so time in the past 2 years. Maybe together we can make…

I like meat loaf. The key is to drain away the fat so I bake mine on a small rack I put in the bottom of the loaf pan. Add one small egg, one small can crushed pineapple (drained) and some onion flakes. Mix all together. Form into a loaf and put into a loaf pan on a sprayed with cooking with cooking spray (Spray the rack…
