HAPPY ME!!!!!!
Got on the scale on Saturday, 1.....2.....9.4 lbs. My goal was 135ish lbs, down from 149.8 last March. I was so happy to see the 2 after the 1. Did my happy dance and gave myself a hug. Did it by myself as hubby is no support at all. From day one of my new way of eating he has belittled me (are you always going to eat that…

Not a recipe but a question - clay bakers
Hi: I have a Pampered Chef clay baker that I have been using in the regular oven. It came with a number of recipes that say it can be used in the microwave to cook things like a whole chicken, pork tenderloin, lasagna, etc. Most of the recipes say things can be cooked in 10 to 30 minutes. I have to admit I only use the…

Discouraged and it is only day 2 - HELP!!!
I really need to loose about 20 pounds so I decided to get going. Based on my readings I should be able to burn 300 calories by exercising and limit myself to 1200 calories a day to this successfully in a smart way. Did my food log for the first time yesterday and I am discouraged already. I had 600 or so calories left for…

Texas Caviar
Hi: Just got back from Costco where I bought something called Texas Caviar made by Pita Pal. It is a mix of blackeye peas, bell pepper, jicama, corn, onion, parsley, red pepper, cilantro, orange juice, canola oil, spices, sea salt, potasium sorbate and a lot of love (no kidding that is on the list). At 70 cals per half cup…

No bake cheese cake
Hi folks. Total non-baker here. I found a recipe for no-bake cheese cake that calls for cream cheese, cool whip, sugar and a few other things. To make this as low cal as possible, can I use splenda or the other stuff (Stevia?) instead of sugar?

Must be doing something right
Started exercising in earnest about 4 weeks ago. Just basic step ups, then added hand weights. At week 2 added an HRM to keep me honest. This week had to adjust the step higher. Added 4 pounds on a weight vest. I am barely making into my training HR zone. Time to add more weight to the vest. I think this exercise stuff is…

BMR Question

Belly ball not budging
I have been at it for 3 weeks now and not doing too bad. Clothes are getting looser. The only thing that seems to be resistant is the belly ball. In my head I know that you can't spot reduce, but any ideas to help the belly?

calories burned????
Just found my old HRM that does not calculate calories burned. Worked out on the elliptical and kept the HR at 150 for 30 minutes. The machine says I burned 334 calories. MFP says I burned 294 calories. One on-line calculator says I burned 500 calories. Another calculator says I burned 421 calories. I found this formula at…

HR, Calories and Calculators
Hi. I found my old HRM (one that does not calculate calories burned), put some new batteries in it and worked out. I knew where my heart rate was and for how long. The hard part was trying to figure out how this translates into calories burned. I found a few calculators one at http://www.gersic.com/calories/ and one at…

What calorie count is more accurate?
Hi: I have 2questions about exercise and calorie count. I am using an elliptical trainer. I selected manual mode level 5 and entered my weight. Today I was on it for 40 minutes (35 work, 5 cool down) and it says I burned 375 calories. During the work part I kept up a pace of 6.5 - 7 mph and did 3.65 miles. If I use the…
