Try it and see how your body reacts. I find that even if I have a lot of calories left over, if I eat late (say, after 8 pm), I have a hard time losing, but if I eat the treat right after dinner, I'm still OK. But every body is different. Experiment and see what keeps you losing. Good luck!

Can you drag him to the doc for a physical and basic bloodwork? Maybe he'll pay attention to someone with MD after their name?

Hi Paced! I have a lot of trouble when I eat a snack in the evening, even if I save up the calories for it. when the scale moves for me is when I go for a walk - leisurely - in the evening. Seems to put me over the edge to get the scale moving after a couple of days. I've heard people on this site say to front load your…

I'm not sure those cravings ever go away . . . But I know you can conquer them. Think about how ***ty you've felt in the past when you ate that junk. then focus on what you're going to do to get through the next 15 minutes. You don't have to wonder how you're going to get through the next days, or week - only how you're…

Welcome! I'm glad to hear that you're taking the proverbial bull by its proverbial horns. I have a husband who is also trying to lose (helps a lot!) but two teenage boys (16, & 18) who don't need to. There are pros and cons. today my 16 year old was grateful for the bread I brought home from my salad while out shopping,…

Name/real name: Sandra goal weight on June 30: 150 lbs 6/01:154 6/06:154 : – ( 6/13: 153.5 6/20:153 but have been waffling around all week and I'm not convinced this is a "sticking" weight yet. 6/27: 6:30:

What "all those women went through to have rights in our country" is what gives you a choice - you have every right to make that choice. It sounds as though this person was rude, and that makes me think they have their own "baggage." I worked part time and then as a substitute trying to break into a teaching job until we…

Wow! What a difference - esp. noticeable in your stomach - where we all want to lose it! Yipee!

I think it's really worth finding out the answer to this question. Talk to the other neighbors. If present a united front - all agreeing on a strategy, you probably have better chance of success. good luck!

I just had my dog at the vet the other day and the doc says Tundra needs to lose 10 pounds (like me!). Dr. Tom pointed out that even if you're feeding the dog the right amount of food, dogs often get extra calories by 1. scamming food from the neighbors who may leave it out for their dog or cat or 2. eating other animal's…

I weigh every day - same time & same clothes - but I don't log it until I see the same weight for 3 days in a row. Then i know it's sticking. I don't get too discouraged (only a little) by the fluctuations, but since a hysterectomy 7 years ago (at age 41) I don't fluctuate as much as I used to. Getting on the scale every…

Mid-week check in: I'm struggling with sugar in the evenings. My mind gets taken over by an alien who is not loosing weight, doesn't care what she looks like and wants to die young. then after the sugar rush hits me the alien vacates my brain and I'm sorry I ate it. I know that's why the loss is so slow. It's frustrating,…

I'm no expert, but I am SURE that no one got fat by eating too many fruits and vegetables. If it's working for you - keep doing it!

I totally agree with this. In addition, think of this: with Victoria's Secret adds on tv during prime time now-a-days (just one example . . . ), there's no avoiding the porn that has infused our culture. I'm glad you are fully aware that those were fake boobs on his lap dancing (insert your own noun here). Being with…

But at least it's going in…

my weekday staple is oatmeal with yogurt. I make oatmeal from "quick cooking oats." Though it only takes 6 - 7 minutes, my m.o. is to boil the water while I'm stretching out after my workout, then add the oatmeal, put on a lid and remove the pan from the heat. then I go shower. By the time I'm dressed and back to the…

I am reading 2 books: A "chick lit" titled It's a Balance Thing by (Margaret?) Dumas and an "engage my brain" book titled "Blink." Blink is about how our subconscious mind makes snap decisions based on information that we are not able to specifically identify consciously. It's on the A.P. Language reading list for next…

I'm in! I'm 47 (for a few more weeks!) and I know I need to loose this before menopause. I am assured by friends that it gets much harder, so I'm after it. I teach school so have more time to exercise for a couple of months while school is out for "summer." (My school district starts back up in mid-August, the best month…

welcome! for snacks, I like a handful of almonds, a cheese stick, fruit, and LOTS of water. I also drink iced tea (unsweetened but made with flavored teas like peach mango from lipton - great replacement for soda) for lunch I like "wraps" made with a full lettuce leaf rather than a tortilla, soup (must drink a lot to…
