[quote="lynn_glenmont;34350489" So you're saying your N=1 is better than the other guy's N=1.[/quote] Not saying that at all. I think you misunderstand the point of that post.

Perfect!! If I could go back and edit my 1st post I would put "foods with chemical additives" rather that "fresh whole foods".

True, they did loose, and their heart numbers improved, but since it's not a valid study, it hard to tell what the long term health impacts of eating twinkies or Big Mac's every day will have on the body. I just can't imagine that's good for the body in the long term, in my opinion. I'm not willing to try it to see. I do…

I'd prefer to be healthy. If I find that my quest to get healthy and look better is hindered because of the "clean" foods that I eat, well, then I'll worry about it when it happens. There's always exceptions, like the guy that ate twinkies for months, or the dude that lost all the weight by eating McD's for a month, but as…

@AnvilHead I don't remember every seeing a thread where someone said you have to eat clean 100% of the time with out ever "cheating" with "unclean" foods to be able to loose weight. I'd like to read that, could you please point me to those comments or a thread? Completely agree about Moderation is key!

To me, anything with added Chemicals: Products with artificial sweeteners, taste additives (MSG), partially hydrogenated vegetable shortening and margarine to name a few. Not being a smart A here, but I probably should start specifying it by saying Chemically processed rather that processed. To ME, bread, tortilla's,…

Yes, you did say "all day". Look at the quote in my post.... I took that before you edited your post... Actually, yes, these people at the gym do give me a run down of every single food they consume. It's called the MFP Food Diary. Did I ever say never eat pizza? Did I ever say never eat twinkies? Or Cookies? No, I did…
-
Yeah, probably is, but in sharing our opinion of how we feel about healthy eating, we get nit picked to death. OP asked a question, BogdanMih answers with his opinion, and he gets pummeled for sharing. Happens every time someone suggests eating "clean".
-
I tried that once too. They aren't interested in any opinions, unless they agree with their own.

I never said anyone wanted to eat pizza all day, did I? NO, so please quit putting word in my... post... I never said a Pizza was unhealthy, did I. I said what works for me is that I cut out Frozen Pizza because of the chemicals, that's all. (Edit: I will say that if you eat pizza regularly as part of your daily diet,…

BogdanMih, you might as well give up. These, "I wanna eat cookies and pizza and lose weight and don't care if I'm healthy" folks will now nit pick every thing you say, all because you didn't say "What works for me". To them, it's all about what the scale says, period, not how healthy they are, and they are to close minded…

My goal is to look better, be healthy and be in shape so I can ride, hike and run without my fitness holding me back. In other words, I want to be fit enough spend all day riding my bike or hiking in the mountains. Epic rides and Hikes! That's my goal! I don't care about my weight.

Thanks Everyone! I purchased a Tickr X at REI onsale for $70. So far it's good and doing exaclty what I wanted. One small issue I had is that it didn't read my heart rate if I put my phone in my backpack while riding my bike. Put a new battery in it and that fixed it. I like the simplicity of the off line work out/memory…

+100 to this. In My Opinion, The best bike in the world is the one you ride. Just get out and ride, and ride, and ride. Don't worry about weight, latest designs or purpose built bikes. Just get one that fits, and that you will ride. As you ride you will start to learn what you really enjoy, then by the time you wear the…

For me clean eating means as little processed foods as possible, as little refined sugars, preservatives, sweetners, ect. Mostly fresh whole food. It's working great for me. I feel great, and have lost 16 lbs in the last 6 weeks. My Blood Pressure is falling, and my cholesterol levels are improving. I do enjoy a few beers…

I love being sore. It's the feeling of progress! But, I have found that it gets better when I move. Ride a bike, walk while swinging my arms some, stretching ect. Seems to kinda work it's way out.

Counting Calories has taught me what Calories "look like". From measuring food, ect, I can now very accurately estimate how many calories are in that apple, ect when I see it. Before calorie counting I didn't know what 8oz of pork looked like. I still count and update my diary, but that's more because I like the data it…

Thanks. I'm looking to get one for cycling as well. Will use it with Endomondo, because endomondo calorie calculations are WAY off...

No one here uses the Wahoo Heart Rate Monitor in here?

Yoga kicks my butt... In a good way. Very good for core strength, which is why I suck at it...

That's the killer for me, social drinking. I love beer, going to breweries with friends, and I often ride my bicycle to the brewery, but one 16 ounce IPA can run 300 calories.. OUCH. So , for me, it has worked best to cut alcohol as well. I do sneak a beer in on Friday nights though... I try to make sure I walk an extra…

3/4 cup of Plain Greek Yogurt, cup of rasberries, and two slices of Costco Multigrain Bread. 445 calories, ton's of fiber, protein and just plain yummy! (Sorry, no pic's)

^^^^^ Absolutely!!!

I never one time said the only way to do it is by eating clean. I simply offered it as a suggestion, and because I forgot to preface it by "What works for me" (and I can't can't go back and edit my Original Post) you people nit pick the *kitten* out of EVERYTHING I say. I have stood in line at the grocery store, and looked…

Wow. You all are very touchy about suggestions. OP asked how to maintain weight when she can't workout. I posted what works for me, and boom. You all nit pick everything I say.. Now I remember why I don't browse these forums. Not a very nice crowd nor open to ideas that are different from yours. Last thing I'll say. Next…

I didn't say you were advocating eating chocolate, I was just using that as an example. Though you didn't say the OP needed to watch what they eat, but they just need a calorie defect. That's the misconception I'm trying to clear up. I'm not advocating buying high end items either. Fresh fruits, veggies and meats are not…
-
I do agree with SueInAz, definitely track what you eat on MFP, but you do need to watch what you eat, so I do disagree with her on that. If you want to loose/maintain weight AND be healthy, it's easier if you will eat fresh whole foods. As Dannywallis said, limit refined sugars, ect. I'll add, stay away from processed…
-
Just Burn More calories that you take in. Since you can't work out right now, figure out your sedimentary burn rate, then eat less calories than that, and don't eat anything processed. Only fresh whole foods, with lots and lots of water.

Thank you all for you input!
