My favorite thing lately has been to puta pork shoulder roast in the crockpot with one sliced onion and 3-4 peeled and sliced apples, salt and pepper, garlic, and a little powdered ginger. Let it cook about 8 hours. Take the roast out, let it rest. Take some of the extra liquid out of the pot, but leave all the cooked down…

Oh - I also wanted to add - I didn't jump in and cut all sugars/grains/legumes out at once. I took about 1-2 weeks and slowly eliminated them. First was sugary things (desserts, and sugary coffee drinks, soda, etc). The a few days later, breads. Then finally, potatoes, beans, corn, and all the rest. The first 2 weeks I ate…

I just had to make it through the first week, and I saw a dramatic decrease in the desire for sugars and breads and stuff. I still want them - but it's not a "gotta have them!" kinda feeling anymore. I suggest eating some fat whenever you have a strong sugar craving, and that will help get you through it.

Carbs from fruit count, just like carbs from veggies count. There really aren't many other sources of carbs when following paleo or primal way of eating (except maybe a little dairy?) Because I'm trying to lose fat, I limit my fruit intake. Most days I don't have any, but occasionally I'll have some (like the awesome…

Peanuts are legumes. Not primal.

:flowerforyou: Exactly what I was thinking.

Most mornings, I eat eggs. This morning, I had a leftover roasted chicken breast, 1/2 an avocado, and some tomato slices. Yesterday I had leftover pork roast, sauteed cabbage, and roasted sweet potatoes (all dinner leftovers). I think the hardest part was getting over the idea that there are breakfast foods and…

 I'm always looking for friends (especially primal/paleo ones!) Anyone can feel free to add me, too.

No specific plan. Mostly just watching the calories, and trying to get a little more activity in my days.

Hi, I'm Jennifer. I have 70 lbs to lose. I'm at my highest weight ever (except while pregnant with my 1st). I weighed less while pregnant with my 2nd, and after he was born I put more on! Ugh. My goal for this year is 35, to get under 200, and to feel proud for what I've accomplished this year, instead of disappointed that…

I really hate how that happens. I hate how it becomes the ONLY topic of conversation.

Mostly me, but my husband too. I partially blame myself for HIS weight gain over the years (I know it's his body, his food, his choice, but I was definitely his enabler!)And now we both need to lose weight, but at any given moment one of us will want something that we shouldn't have as often as we do, and the other one…

Only 40. But at least I got up off my butt and tried, right? Next time will be better!

My initial goal is 165. After I get there I will decide if I want to try to go lower. 11 years ago I averaged 155 or so, and I was pretty thin. I, at one point, weighed 145 - that was really thin for me. I have broad shoulders and hips, and even at 150 wore a size 12 pants.

I'll throw in some fruit with my morning snack today and take extra veggies at dinner tonight. This one won't be a problem for me! Hooray!

My favorite breakfast, though...Over-easy egg with spinach, tomato, and canadian bacon. Take one non stick pan - in one "corner" crack an egg to start cooking, in the rest of the 3/4 of the pan put a small pile of fresh spinach leaves, one slice of canadian bacon, and a thick slice of tomato. Flip them all over at the…

On work days I toast a whole wheat english muffin, spread a little peanut butter on it, and eat it. It's not fancy, but it's quick, and fairly cheap, and pretty tasty.

This is delicious. I shred it, then saute it in a frying pan with shredded green cabbage, salt and black pepper, a drizzle of soy sauce, and a little oil (butter is better, if you want to use it) until the cabbage is cooked to my liking.
