  • in high school i was a varsity athlete in four sports and smoked every day. as an adult, i have run a dozen marathons smoking about half a pack a day most of the last 20 years or so. i dont think it has slowed me down on the playing field but when i quit smoking for 6 months or so last year i noticed i had more energy…
  • my mom was a smoker for about 35 years and she seems very sensitive to salt in food, dont know if this started after she quit but i will have to ask her if there is a correlation there, interesting. i had a smell thing yesterday, i was in a meeting with a room full of people and i was relatively close to the door which was…
  • i have come to enjoy running in the dark, very peaceful. sometimes i run at 3am to get it in before work and other responsibilities run with friends or even better, find a running club. dont have any running clubs in your area? start one, talk to the local running store manager and have them sponsor it and publicize it,…
  • this. also, why are you worried about it? why would a guy lie? almost everything a guy says to a woman is with the intent of getting her pants off so either a- he thinks you are sexy and wants to be with you or b- he doesnt think you are sexy but wants to be with you. either way, he knows it will likely make you feel good…
  • these are all really good points to remember i quit 77 days ago and have lost 13 lbs in that time and i was a closet smoker for most of the 25 years i smoked. i think being a closet smoker can make it much harder in some ways because you dont have the community support and you have more rituals built in to your routine…
  • smoke free for 76 days, 8 hours, 58 minutes and 46 seconds, Cigarettes NOT smoked: 764, Money Saved: $226.10 lost 13 pounds over that same time frame
  • the best calorie burn per time spent is something you can do in a tent, but whether you want to do it will depend on who you are camping with... aside from that, as others have said, you will get plenty of activity so i dont think you should worry about it. going camping is when you get to reap the rewards of being in…
  • dont think, be sure. really think about it and convince yourself that you can and will do it. if you cant or wont do that then dont bother trying. being around all those smokers will be tough, you need to mentally prepare yourself for that to be able to power through it and saying maybe, telling people you are "trying" to…
  • awesome, good for you. have you picked out the cape yet?
  • congrats on quiting! i wouldnt stress too much about one blip on the scale, you may be back down that much or more next week when you weigh in. your body is in a bit of a crisis when you first quit smoking, you have taken away something it is dependent on and thinks it needs but that of course is short term and it will…
  • stay strong, figure out why you let yourself slip, really think about it and dont let the alcohol be an excuse, you are responsible for your own decisions and if you set your mind to it you can accomplish anything. have a great start over day today, i look forward to reading about your smoke free weekend on monday!

  • sounds similar to me. 2 kids and we are in our late 30s instead of early 30s but i miss physical interaction yet she doesnt seem to care, hasnt for a long time, not sure she ever did but i think she was more accomodating say 7 or 8 years ago. i try to initiate things but it is struggle to even get a hello and goodbye kiss…
  • great stats! 59 days for me from half a pack to zero a day, i have lost 8 lbs since my quit day.
  • dont make a decision based on "we have only been together 6 months" time passed in one relationship is completely different from another, this should not be a reason either for or against any decision. do look in your heart, if you arent ready for the level of commitment that moving in together entails then you certainly…
  • couldnt have said it better, if you arent certain that you dont want to smoke and/or you think you are going to "try" to quit then dont bother. it is good that you have limited yourself to work time as a start but you wont be successful until you get your mind in the right place. you can and will do it when you really want…
  • i started doing this at my desk after i read this thread yesterday, was starting to get tired when i went home but not too bad, now today, after 3 hours sitting on the ball at my desk my back is definitely tired and I am looking for excuses to get up which is a good thing since studies show a great benefit to getting up…
  • i smoked a half a pack a day for 23 years, quit 55 days ago and have lost 8 pounds in that time. dont make excuses or use one bad thing as a crutch for another. if you want to quit then do it, if you dont want to then dont try since you need to be dedicated to it for it to work.
  • i have one that i hadnt been using, had meant to do it for a while, this thred has inspired/reminded me to roll it out of the corner and i am sitting on it now. :)

  • it does for me but not in the physical fight way most here are commenting on, for me it is about kicking your *kitten* anyway possible on the playing field, in the race, or anything else. i am very competitive and i want to be better than you at every thing and i think about then when training that i want to beat person x…
