Try pressing and holding the button for 30 seconds then retry. I had to get mine out of "boot" mode is what bodymedia told me. Hope that helps:)

I have found that if you concentrate on the number it gets discouraging if you dont meet it. Like watching water boil. @tangal88 did you modify the deit as well to lose weight or stick with the number it calculates?? I am 222lbs now (down form 261) and am wondering if I need to round down {it calculates me at eating approx. 2800calories).
