  • Get a good pair of running shoes! Whenever my knees start to bother me I know it's time for a new pair.
  • I average about $80 for my husband, 2 year old, and myself and live in the Chicago suburbs. Now I'm questioning the quality of foods I'm buying... The only processed foods I buy are cereal and an occasional package of crackers for my son... We do eat out once a week, but I'm still spending half of what others are and…
  • Turkey burgers, tacos, baked chicken, chili or soup in the crock pot, grilled cheese and tomato soup, breakfast for dinner... We usually order pizza once a week and do a left over night once a week...usually I only have to cook 3-4 times. When I make things that can be frozen....I'll either make 2 of that item or we'll…
  • Agree with the others. Eat more. There's a thresh hold number your body needs just to sustain it's everyday function, and without meeting that need your body will go into survival mode and just cling to what it has rather than allow you to lose weight.
  • If you're going to go low carb you need to up your intake of healthy fats - that will help with the groggy/tired feeling. Your carb intake would mostly consist of vegetables/few fruits/even fewer grains. It's really something that needs to be a lifestyle and not a fix, because once you start eating grains again you're…
  • I'll make my omelettes the night before to eat at work the next morning and they taste fine. I do 3 egg whites + 1 whole egg with either some guac on top or a little bit of cheese and veggies. I eat around 7:30 and stay satisfied until lunch between 11:30-12:30.
  • Maybe I'm the only one that had this problem, but when I tried to incorporate HIIT into my routine I lost a lot of my distance/endurance, but I also ran further than 3 mi at least once a week. I agree with the suggestion to work your intervals into some sort of C25K routine...jog the walk times/sprint the jog times. Add…
  • My nephew's legal name is Z. Just the letter.
  • Did L1,D2 this morning. For anyone who may be like me and HATE working out inside, I have figured out that I can play it on YouTube on my iPad while I watch something else. For instance, last night I leaned the iPad up against my tv while biggest loser was on. This is not my first go around with 30DS, so I really just need…
  • I'm in. I'm a runner, but I live in Chicago, so it's a bit cold especially when I get up to work out at 4am. I'll do this everyday with you guys except on those rare winter days when it's warm enough to be outside. I get really bored, really fast with at-home workouts, so hopefully this is enough motivation for me.
  • I get up at 4 M-F, running 3x/week and cycling the other 2. I've never had an issue. I do have "runner's mace" as a precaution. Also, there's a lot of skunks in my area, so I run the street. I'm on the opposite side of the road so that I can see who's driving toward me - if I hit a darker patch of road...I'll just run…
  • The "right doctor" the previous poster mentions is probably one I wouldn't want to go to in the first place. The billing she's discussing is called "fraud and abuse" and any good doctor will know that "creative billing" could land them in jail. I'm a medical coder with experience in general surgery - patient's who come in…
  • Fellow Cubs fan here :) I'm not sure if you're local to Chicago, but I delivered at St Alexius in Hoffman Estates. They have a mothers breastfeeding support group that meets every Monday (I think it was at 10). I went every week and learned SO much from the LC and other moms. If you're local it's definitely worth checking…
  • Their chicken and grass fed beef is usually $1/lb cheaper if you buy more than 3 lbs at a time. I usually go and buy at least that much. We also love their crab cakes every once in a while!
  • You just have to remember that you didn't put it on over night, so it won't come off that fast either. With my son, I gained 60lbs. He's 18 months now and I've lost all but about 7lbs, but don't look anywhere near as fit as I used to. I BF'd for the first year and just ran my first 1/2 marathon last month - the training…
  • We've made the switch from cow's milk to unsweetened almond milk. It's not my favorite, but I only really have milk with cereal and I don't have cereal but maybe 1-2x/week. We made the switch because my son had 5 ear infections in as many months and they didn't start until he started drinking cow's milk. I'm not kidding,…
  • I'm the mom of an 18 month old little boy and work FT. I've done 30DS 2-3x in the past. I do much better outside, though. I just ran my first 1/2 marathon 2 weeks ago - trying to keep up with my running and cycling now. I strength train 1-2x/week. Feel free to add me :)
