  • You know, I never really thought about it but you're really onto something with the control issue. I've kind of let things get out of control with my eating for the last week or 2, and oddly enough it's been right after the absolute high point of my weight loss and cycling this year.
  • Age: 38 Starting weight: 165 (12/28/14), my original SW was 172 but didn't stick with it for a long time Current weight: 138 Goal weight: 130, but will likely go a little lower. Really only concerned about reducing fat % and increasing muscle mass now. How many calories do you eat a day? I first started at 1700 to ease in,…
  • It's actually better to not "clean" your chicken first. You actually up your chance of contamination by doing that because of the other surfaces it can come in contact with. Making sure it's heated enough to be thouroughly cooked will kill any bacteria and viruses. Rinsing it does nothing. With that being said, it is one…

  • Over 200g even on rest days for me, and easily over 500 on longer ride days on the weekends. I know most people are not endurance athletes in training, but I cannot even believe that some of you would want to or even be able to eat only 20g of carbs a day. Mind blown
  • I was JUST trying to figure out what to do with the one I bought. I actually eat high carb use pasta, but I love trying new veggies. I see a couple on here that look pretty good. This is the one I found on Pinterest that I think I'll try tonight. Sounds like it'll be great with the spinach and mushrooms, yum! I'll use…
  • I live in South East Louisiana. Hot and humid doesn't even begin to describe it here. I ride my bike most days before the sun comes up because that's the only time I can really make it happen. And it's also the most "pleasant" time to be outside. I sweat buckets, and I drink tons of water. An hour and a half of riding this…
  • I discovered this just the other day, but I didn't know about linking it to Strava and getting updates. Thanks!
  • I've never heard the damage rumor either. I have a carbon bike, and I put hella miles on the trainer this year with no ill effects on the bike except for quick wear on the rear tire. I will say that riding the on the trainer is pure torture when you're not accustomed to it, but if it fits your needs you'll make it happen.…
  • I love the fly by feature! I don't run the app on my phone. I just always upload my Garmin to Strava on my laptop, but I may start using the app for my rides as backup until I replace my Garmin. I'm a premium member. I forgot all that entails, but it's cheap and worth it. I know it lets you create segments.
  • Lots of great advice here! Eat all the fruit you want as long as you stay within your calorie goal. I do every day, and it's been working great for me.
  • I've been drinking pretty much nothing but water for a long time, but I really enjoy a cup of tea with one pack of stevia some afternoons. My faves are Bigelow green tea with mango or pomegranate. The slight bit of caffeine is great for an afternoon boost and helps me kill the urge to snack more.
  • Thank you! You will be a fine addition!
  • I don't have Strave linked with MFP, but I also don't use the app on my phone (good backup though in case Garmin acts up). I find Strava's calorie estimate for me to be low, but the one in the MFP database is very inflated. I manually enter my excercise on MFP with a number I get from a HR calorie calculator. Accuracy is…
  • I've requested to join. Wendy Robichaux
  • I love me some Michael Bolton:love: Non-gaming, math and science nerd here since before it was cool. Nothing sexier than intelligence.
  • I chew one piece of Orbit Sweetmint every day after lunch and never log it, which is weird for two reasons. I pretty much log every single thing that has even one calorie or any sodium, and I eschew all other artificial sweetneners. Not sure why I don't include the gum.
  • There's some solid advice here. I also definitely recommend having your sit bones measured. Even then, there's no way to know what will work for you without putting it to the test. I tossed the saddle that came on my bike immediately, but the first one I got after that before I got measured and knew what to look for seemed…
  • I'm in and cool with 334. TBY - Done
  • All science?? I'm not even going to touch that silliness. I was saying that "bananas are the enemy of HEALTHY bowels" is completely false, and it is. If you have had a lifelong issue with constipation, you do not have healthy bowels. This is why the OP should see a doctor if the things that people with healthy bowels do…
  • Thank you! That is completely false. I eat at least 1-2 every day, and I go every single morning first thing like clockwork. I do have a little shot of coffee before, but I don't even track fiber because I go way over every day. Actually under ripe bananas are can contribute to a firming so to speak, but over ripe bananas…
  • Wow, this explains so much!
  • Another one here that loves my 500. I don't personally see the need for anything more, and I especially would not want to Chance using my phone on really long rides.
  • I go WAY over in sugar every single day, mainly because of fruit. I track it just for fun I guess, and to prove a point to others. My diary is open if you're interested, but I do have my carb goal set pretty high. If you're hitting your macros, there's no need to worry. All the sugar is included with your carbs. And if it…
  • I'd like to be in on it this time too!
  • I second the Plant Fusion. The vanilla is a little sweet, but it has a good vanilla flavor goes so well with all kinds of fruit. The chocolate is pretty good too, and I keep it on hand. I haven't tried the unflavored or the cookies and cream yet, but they have both been recommended by a friend with proven good taste.
  • I've never been a big fan of yogurt either, and I've given up most dairy; but I do still use plain Greek in place of sour cream or mayo once in a while. I actually get more calcium without milk in my diet. One cup of almond milk has 45% of the RDA, while cow's milk has only 30% per cup. Dark green leafy vegetables are also…
  • Check out Chamois Butter or DZ Nuts. Good stuff! I say it's a must for anything over 15 miles.
