  • I am probably going to get crucified for saying this but.... The scale only represents your relationship with gravity. Yes, it is great to see the numbers on the scale go down, BUT - are you measuring yourself? Waist, hips, legs, arms, chest, and even neck? Seeing inches go down can be more of a motivator than anything…
  • OP - I have lost a lot of weight... and it shows by my ticker. At first, it was SLOW... took MONTHS for me to figure out what worked for me. I receommend logging everything religiously for one week - see a doctor for bloodwork - get a heart rate monitor - and, the best advice I have every been given when it comes to these…
  • I think I remember this - was it on Halloween, many years ago, in a certain small town??????
  • Salads with homemade dressing (greek yogurt with a little bit of a package of hidden valley ranch, or another flavor packet) with tuna sometimes! Great protein source!! Cucumber sandwiches - this is little bits of meat between two slices of cucumber, or chicken salad or tuna salad on top of them (mixed with greek yogurt)…
  • Reading this story, I am mortified. The "owner" will be lucky to have any clients left after this. As a mother, I have also battled to get my son's hair cut at an early age. At the time, we didnt know he was Autistic! He sat on the floor and played with the hair for hours... but, when it came his turn - forget it!! KUDOS…
  • I'm in!! Is there a group site on MFP as well???
  • OP - I also noticed that when I eat carbs (for me, anything processed, really) I dont lose weight. If I eat high protein, and only natural carbs and lots of veggies and some fruits, I can lose weight, and I feel better. I tried "eating wiht in my calories" for 6 months - I ate whatever I wanted in that timeframe. I lost 20…
  • I"m still waiting... Went from a 48H to a 36H (going to a 34 soon!). I tried going down to a G size, but I spill over. Ugh. Reduction is in my future!!
  • I have a son with Celiac's disease, and has a severe reaction to Gluten. He loves Rice cakes... potato chips and Udi's products! Dinners for us are usually meat, potatoes and a veggie... I will make pasta salad from time to time, and he eats it wihth GF Noodles. He also eats a LOT of salad, as he doesnt really like meat -…
  • YES!!! This is SO true!! We have people in our own country starving, and without homes and good educations, but we are spending trillions of dollars to help other countries feed their people and educate them. We do need to look at our own community first... I hope our children learn from our mistakes...
  • I have a problem with swallowing vitamins too - makes me nauseaus (sp?). I take gummy chewables from Trader Joes every day. I also take, Vitamins C, D, B12, Iron and Magnesium - of course, I went and had bloodwork done and found out where I was deficient .... Major deficiencies will cause mood shifts and irritability, as…
  • First, go to a therapist to deal with the emotional eating. There are people who specialize in eating disorders, and online support groups you can get involved in - that will help you take control of your emotional eating. (You said you have issues - this is the only reason I bring it up. I have them as well!) Second, go…
  • I have a 9 year old son that was diagnosed with Celiacs Disease in September of last year. Due to the extent of his illness and allergy (rashes, severe stomach pains, behavior issues) we cannot have any gluten in the house. So, the entire family has gone Glulten-Free. Honestly, it was the BEST thing for my middle son - he…
  • Eat fruit. Natural sugar, and gives you that sweetness you crave. I have also used cans of Redi-Whip when things like this happen late at night... filling, and sweet. A squirt or two in the mouth, and you are good to go.
  • I have recently had to up my protein levels too ... higher than what most people eat. Beakfast for me is a protein shake - simply because I leave the house by 6:30am with two kids in tow to drop off to schools before I get to the office at 7:30 to start my day. When I am home, I will usually have a couple devilled eggs…
  • Last year, I did that exact workout!! I did Insanity 6 days a week though... added C25K in 3 times a week, and weights 4 days a week. I would walk about 3 miles on my "rest" day too... just to keep my body moving. I am hoping to do something similar this year - C25K, Combat, and weights. BTW - Overall, I lost about 15…
  • My ex husband did this while we were married. I brought the proof out (emails, chats, meeting set ups, etc) in Therapy. He walked home that night. Notice he is now an EX-husband. If you are "the one", he doesnt need to do that - either he is completely insecure, or a complete jerk. You are not making too much of it - in…
  • I make an awesome "Buffalo Chicken Salad" for dinner for the kids that they love. I love it too!! Get pre-cooked perdue chicken, original flavor, a bottle of Franks Red Hot, lettuce, and either blue cheese dressing, or laughing cow blue cheese wedges. Dice up the chicken, and spray a frying pan with Pam - cook the chicken…
  • I have a similar hectic schedule - or rather, HAD. I have changed some of the things I do - college classes are online rather than going to the college for them. I have 3 kids, (1 is autistic) two crazy dogs and a few cats thrown in for more chaos. Here is something I do each morning, and it has helped a LOT. I am a HUGE…
  • My 2012 Accomplishments: 1) Lost 78.2 pounds this year 2) Lost 47.75 inches over my entire body (THIS is my BEST accomplishment!!) 3) Went from a size 30 pants, 3X shirt to a 16/18 pants and a Large shirt. 4) Learned working out is FUN 5) Did a month of Insanity, P90X and BBL, and loved them all! 6) Learned a lot about…
  • FWB can work out if BOTH people are on the same page. I have had a few arrangements like this... One, for over 15 years - and still going!! One lasted only a few months, due to distance, and the guy wanting more. I had just left a really bad marriage, and wasnt ready for that emotional commitment. He completely understood,…
  • No pics to post to you, but wanted to say "WTG!".... you will succeed - just use the tool you were given, and you will drop the weight again in no time!! My goal is around 165 once I am done, and although I have a ways to go, I wont let anything stop me!! Good luck!!
  • Step off of the scale for a month. Write down your measurements, check them again in a month. Also, as many others on here have suggested - how much sodium are you getting in? I find when I eat carbs or sodium, I gain. Over the last month, I gained 8 pounds - I looked at my food diary, and saw a lot of sodium. I but it,…
  • I think many women have this problem. I have lost a lot of weight, and my rolls sag like crazy now... I wear Spanx daily (a size smaller than I wear, to keep it all in) and am working on building muscle - hoping the skin will start to tighten up - I use cocoa butter lotion and vitamin E creams daily too... I really hope it…
  • I have stalled for months in the past. It takes time, but the body needs an adjustment. A lot of people have given good advice here. Take what you want, and leave the rest. The one thing that stood out for me in your post is about PCOS, and insulin resistence. You probably know this already, but avoid simple carbs - white…
  • Eat a banana. Seriously - leg cramps are usually caused by low potassium. I eat a banana when my legs start to feel tight, and they loosen up within a day or two. If I dont catch it quick enough, I have to eat one for a few days... This is something I have battled since I was 15. More water and a banana always work for me.
  • I can completely relate - my ex husband was the same way, except for the fact he didnt get the chance to kill himself - I had him committed first (yes, mental hospital). I did leave him, kept the kids, and suffered years of verbal abuse from his family. One thing I will tell you - Suicide is a very selfish act - he was not…
  • Hi group! I'm Simone, from Upstate NY. I am a single mom of 3 kids - an 8 year old with Celiacs Disease, an 11 year old high functioning Autistic, and a 16 year old "Princess", my daughter. I work full time, go to college full time, and also volunteer for the local Autism chapter and an animal rescue group.…
  • My 500lb neighbor bending over to get something out of his car, and his gray sweatpants fell down, exposing his black thong. :noway:
  • I have an 8 year old son recently diagnosed with Celiacs. If he touches wheat (brushes crumbs off the counter after someone else) he breaks out in hives. If he eats something with gluten in it, he gets terrible stomach pains, and cannot tolerate food for 2 days. My entire house has gone Gluten free and everyone feels…
