BrendarB Wow, girl. 3-5 lbs per week is a lot to ask. Probably a good choice to scale back a bit. I hope your HRM will help you get calories burned... but it really depends on the HRM. I have one from Timex (about $40 on amazon.com) that gives me almost double-credit for calories! Like, 450 for a 2 mile/40 min walk. I've…

Kiwi--- those scallops look wonderful! How evil are the stuffed peppers? My weekly produce delivery brought me 4 bull's horn peppers and I'm not quite sure what to do with them yet...

fallenangel - your beignet ritual is wonderful! It's not a big deal to burn 120 or so calories if you ever find you need to. :) All your dishes look wonderful, but the ravioli... YUM! I just made a batch of pesto a couple of days ago... and i have some homemade butternut squash ravioli in the freezer... hmmm... regina -…

A couple of pics I posted in the past couple of weeks elsewhere on this site: Shrimp Curry - made with Thai Kitchen Lite Coconut Milk, it's a respectable 237 calories (and 11g of fat) without the rice: Lighter chicken parmesan baked with panko crumbs, served with homemade heirloom tomato marinara sauce, spaghetti and acorn…

Lotsa work and bad weather and a closed gym gave me (poor) excuses to not ride for a week. I'm still gonna try for 150 miles though! :)

Mmm - baba ganouj! http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/baba-ghannouj-recipe/index.html

ajvallance - I've also got a 7 quart crock pot ('cause I'm a little crazy that way...) I just add more stuff! Especially cabbage! It'll freeze just fine if you think that's too much for your family.
-
jackibo - it's 530 cal per 1/4 of the whole recipe (think 1/4 cup rice, 1/4 lb beef). That's a HUGE portion though (not that I didn't eat that much...). Most people will probably make 6 servings from it. I'll make that clearer on the post. :) rf1170 - YES!!! This is the second time I've had cabbage from my CSA. Savoy…

Thanks for the questions - I'm no recipe author! :) The rice is uncooked - the moisture from the cabbage and tomato sauce is enough to cook it completely. The sodium is from the tomato sauce I chose from the food DB - I'm sure there's a low-sodium version out there - or you could thin tomato paste to the right consistency.…

You've got this link: http://i1083.photobucket.com/albums/j393/RelicGoddess/turkeyburger-1.jpg Just put after it. (but remove the spaces before the closing brackets) Oh - lovely how-to write up Virgo! :)

NSV Monday! I put on a pair of pants this morning that no longer make me look like my basement's flooded. They hang perfectly below my ankles again. :) I had a total dietary lapse on Saturday. The overeating made me tired and sluggish - I haven't felt like that in a while and realized I used to feel like that *most* days.…

What a gorgeous bird! And beautiful dinner. Jacques is my hero. I discovered chioggia beets this year - they're divine!

Found the new thread! :)

Hi gang! I did not get my exercise quota in daily. On Wednesday I only had 20 min, and yesterday not a bit! I was chained to my desk all day and in class all night... and then back to the office until the wee hours. I will get some in today though, and I think I've averaged 30min/day overall. I think that's good for…

Cool! I'm at 276.0 today. :)

Success! I lost 2.6 lbs this past week. I totally missed on the burn challenge - only 1580 calories. Work and school were very busy, keeping me at a desk way too much. Hard to burn calories that way... I'm good about listing a few meals to cook and making my grocery list from that - and sticking to it. I'll cook about…

BIG win! Congrats, girl!

Agreed, ladies! Life without pizza now and then isn't worth living! Oh yeah - and chocoate too... :)

ADTeachTX - here's the link to the onion rings: http://www.skinnytaste.com/2011/03/low-fat-baked-onion-rings.html I thought they were good, but not wowee. So glad you had a great day! Laura - feel better soon! You did great today anyway. Perseverance-girl! Sounds like a superhero, a bit? Yeah? :) A rainy afternoon/evening…

Rebecky27 – your parfait looks gorgeous, and I like the idea of a little crunch from the shredded wheat. mrssavvysteve – good luck with your HRM and keep us (well me anyway) posted. I bought an inexpensive one over a year ago and finally started using it – but it gives me WAY to too much credit. I just bought a relatively…

Recipe Wednesday! My favorite! :) I love chicken salad, but it's best (and evilest) loaded with Hellmann's mayonnaise. I've found lots of lighter versions out there using fat-free/light mayo as a substitute, but I can't stand that stuff. My weekly produce delivery brought some awesome red seedless grapes and I couldn't…

That's a good perspective! Just keep working it and the weight *has* to fall off. :)

Very, very well done! So glad your enjoying the new baby, and sorry to hear about your own struggles with fertility. If you haven't already, you might want to seek a 2nd or 3rd opinion from other doctors in the future. They don't all have the same experience and knowledge, so having the *right* one could make a difference!…

Thanks so much! :)

Rae_Mayer: Good for you getting out to play! Soooo glad you enjoyed it! Group - I'm a bit of a geek and I'm sort of keeping an exercise spreadsheet... 9/11/2011 39 min Cycling 7.9 miles 9/12/2011 64 min Walking 2 miles, Cycling 5.1 miles 9/13/2011 44 min Cycling 5.1 miles, Wii Boxing 147 minutes total this week! Well... I…

Woohoo! Bring it!!! :)

Ok, it's a pain in the tushie to cook just one serving of pasta! For regular pasta (like rotini) I cooked a whole box and weighed it after cooking. I found that 2 oz dry = 4.1 oz cooked (for the Ronzoni Smart Taste, cooked al dente the way I like it). I suggest cooking the whole package, weigh it cooked, and divide by the…

TNAJackson: That sounds like excellent advice. Good call.

I don't usually read fantasy, but recently enjoyed The Amulet of Samarkand - Jonathan Stroud. It was a bit snarky and fun. :) A few others: Story of Beautiful Girl Any of the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich (funny as all get-out!) The Art of Racing in the Rain (the story of a semi-pro race car driver as told from…
