If it's an option, also consider thin crust. Aside from cheese and meats, a lot of calories come from the thick crusts and deep-dishes.

Everyone falls off and goes off the deep end every once in a while. You have to live. What's important is to get back on the horse and keep with it! Never again though? Not even in proper portions of whole wheat pasta?

I think your body turns into survival mode when it takes in too few calories. If your daily goal is, for example, 1700 per day, and you clock in at around 1550/1600 per day (with the right foods, vitamins, nutrients, etc), your body should be fine.
