  • We are not rats, but we are mammals. I think it was an interesting article. Thanks for sharing it.
  • I love the UK! Put on that great British rock and dance around the house! :)
  • Ten pounds is GREAT! I know you feel better already. If it's hard, try setting your goal lose a pound a week. You'll be allowed a little more in calories, and you might make steadier progress that way. That's 52 pounds in a year, but it takes patience. Good luck!
  • I'm a pear. I think you can see my pictures if you click on me.
  • Welcome aboard! I look forward to being where you are -- in maintainence mode! Good for you! I'm sure you will find others here in the same boat, and it'll help keep you fit!
  • When you weigh is very important. First thing in the a.m., after peeing and before eating, is best. Remember, everything in your gut weighs something. Two cups of water weighs a pound. Also, if your scale is like mine, it weighs differently when placed in different spots on the floor. Like two pounds different! Sometimes I…
  • We had the same breakfast! But I put a half tsp sugar in my cereal, and some half n half in my coffee. Then later I had 1/4 cup of Planters Energy Mix. I'm ready for lunch now, then the gym.
  • I'm 51 and have lost about 12 pounds in two months on mfp, and about 8 pounds in the six months before that. So twenty total. I have a graph and I can see that while my weight loss was slow, and bounced up and down before mfp, now it is a steady drop of a pound a week or a little more. When I workout, I eat my calories but…
  • I think she meant reduced-sugar/reduced-salt ketchup. :)
  • I posted on Sept 5 that I wanted to get down to 155 lbs by the end of Sept. It looks like I'm going to make it! I am about 155.5 now. I hope you are all doing well with your September goals.
  • That is surprising, but that's also a whole lot of cinnamon. I think a whole pumpkin pie has one teaspoon, which is a third of a tablespoon. So no, I don't count calories in spices.
  • Moving is stressful! See if a friend can help you pack, or keep you company while you do it. Put on some music you love to improve your mood. Stock up on healthy snacks and keep your strength up. I am a huge procrastinator, but I find as soon as I accomplish something, I feel so much better.
  • I'm 5' 1.5" and my goal weight is 133 lbs., the beginning of the healthy BMI range for me. I like the idea of wiggle room, though. So maybe I will plan on being 130 - 133 when I get to "maintenance." Or even lower, depending on how I look and feel.
  • I agree with all of the above! It helps me make good choices. If a cookie should present itself to me, I can have it, but it might mean having a smaller supper later. So it might not seem worth it! I have said no to some treats lately, with no sadness or regrets! My mindset is changing!
  • You can do it. Logging all your food, staying near your calorie goal and gradually increasing exercise, has been successful for me, and many here. You can start with lots of walking, and then try other things. Don't worry if the weight comes off slowly. As long you continue to lose weight and not gain, you will be building…
  • I'm not understanding you. You tell the program how much you want to lose per week, and it tells you how many calories will get you there. So how can it tell you that you will only lose 0.2 lbs per week? Maybe you don't have a lot of weight to lose, and it won't let you go below 1200 to get there? I am not sure why it's…
  • I went back to work August 1. I'm a school secretary, and the beginning of the school year is pretty stressful. Lots of long hours. So I found it very hard to get to the gym, but I have turned that around this past week. Lost a pound a week anyway, just by meeting my calorie goals. I'm feeling a little stuck around 159-160…
  • Mine has gone from 33.3 to 29.6 (obese to overweight for a 5' 1.5" woman). That's going from 179 to 159 lbs. I will enter the Healthy zone when I hit 133 lbs, around May or June if things keep going well. I am really looking forward to that!
  • I think it's better than that. 38 is about 70% of 55, so you have actually lost more like 30% of your body fat. (Your % of body fat has gone down 17 percentage points. That's the figure you were using.)
  • I know how hard that is. They have probably stocked up on goodies to feed you. Good for you, for making good choices. . Hang in there!
  • When I had a muscle pain in my back, something called a " Bed Buddy Heat/Cold pack" helped a lot. I would heat it in the microwave, and then lean on it while sitting on the couch, or put it on my back while lying in bed. Muscle relaxants helped speed the healing, but I took them only at bedtime. Give yourself time to heal.…
  • Great job! Looking good!
  • Thanks for all the positive comments. I wish all of you the best in health and fitness. I'll post "after" pictures in May, and maybe some before that.
  • It sounds like people have been saying hurtful things to you about your weight. If they are people who love you, they may be concerned about your health, but not expressing it right. Try to focus on your own health and well-being, and the weight loss will follow. Do this for yourself, and try to stay positive even when…
  • I try to log everything as best I can, and if the portions are huge, I take enough home for a lunch. And I try not to waste calories on a beverage, but sometimes like to have a beer!
  • Centimeters? She gives her weights in kgs.
  • I'm creating an exercise of jogging, 4.5 mph. Maybe it will show up if you search for it. I found a website that says it burns 9 calories a minute for an overweight female. I'll see how that compares to the items already included. I definitely think this has to do with leg length. If my 6'1" husband walked as fast as he…
  • Good for you! I'm 51, and I figured, it's now or never. Hang in there. I'm consistently logging in my food, and am losing a pound a week. That seems slow to some, but it's 52 pounds in a year! I feel so much better already. I can't wait to see how I'll feel in a few months.
  • I have those same bulges, and I'm sure they will be the last thing to go. I admire those plus-size ladies that can wear tight things and look great because their curves are a nice even line. Anyway, yours don't look bad. Mine are freakish, ha ha. I'm hoping weight loss and exercise will help.
  • Hi. I'm new here. My weight loss is going slowly, but at least I'm not gaining. Mfp is definitely helping. I need encouragement to get to the gym this week. I work at a school and have been working late, and then "I can't possibly go to the gym because I have to..." fill in the blank with some important task for my family.
