Muscle weighs more than fat, per cubic inch, not per pound!

I'm 5'2" and 53 years old. SW: 179 CW: 150 GW: 145 Weigh in Dates: 8/1 150 8/8 8/15 8/22 8/28 End of Month (or whatever weigh in days you use) What is your biggest roadblock to losing weight? 1) Not feeling like exercising (and then I don't); 2) Too many meals where I have to guess at the calories, like potlucks and…

You're doing great! As for the clothes, either buy used or just don't buy too much this go-round. A couple pairs of tighter pants will go a long way. BTW, our numbers are the same, except I started at 179 and am a little shorter. I'd like to be 145 by Sept. 1. The weight loss does seem to slow as you get closer to goal.…

Two pounds is not much more than daily weight fluctuations. You may have gained two pounds, or you may not have. I wouldn't worry yet. Give it more time.

Yogurt. Granola bars. Baggies of trail mix you make yourself. A piece of fruit. Stick of string cheese. Raisins.

Good for you! If you are satisfied, you can focus on maintaining! No, this hasn't happened to me yet. I'll know my ideal weight when I see/feel it. I look forward to getting there. I think you have the right outlook.

Make a list of protein sources you like and are willing to eat. Eggs? Fish? Some refried beans are fat-free or vegetarian. Do you like hummos? What about soy products? Tofu? Once you have your list of proteins, you can find lots of recipes without eating beans. I hope this helps. I have two vegetarian daughters, but they…

No, that's not it. The latest I've seen is "one year after your periods become regular." So that may be 18 for some girls. I did say "most girls" to begin with. I suggest you measure your daughter now and a year from now.

I don't think I did the quote thing right, sorry. My info came from a pediatric orthopedic surgeon. My daughter had to have a surgery that couldn't be done until she was done growing. We waited until a year after her first period, and it was confirmed with xrays that she was was done growing. Not all 13 year olds are the…

FYI, most girls have stopped growing by one year after they get their first period. I like the above suggestions for fun activities. You must keep things positive. Calling the girls lazy is not a good idea, if someone was suggesting that.

Definitely a visible difference! Great job, and glad you feel better, too!

"You will lose weight when you decide to make a healthy lifestyle change that can last your whole life." They have not reached that decision point yet, so I would say this and nothing else. Teens will get you going around and around talking. Say nothing else! Pay for nothing but healthy groceries and exercise…

I'm trying to get to the 130s, too! I was stuck between 149 and 145 for months, and now I'm at 142. I think we'll reach our goals, but I've heard that the last ten pounds are the hardest. As long as the trend is down, I am trying to be patient with the slowness. Keep doing what's been working, and know that you are getting…

Good for you! You can do it! You will feel much better at a healthier weight. This site has helped me a lot. I wish you success!

Monday weigh-in: 142.5. Down a half pound.

This is perfect for me, because I need to lose my LAST ten pounds. My original ultimate goal was 133 by May 1. I'm behind! I'd be happy with June 1. Current weight: 143. Goal weight: 133. I'll be thrilled to get out of the 140s -- stuck there a few months! I eat 1240 calories, and I walk, run and do strength training. (My…

A guy friend shared this one: when you're feeling hungry, say to yourself, "This is what losing weight feels like." I'm not saying you should go hungry, but I've found this helpful when I am wanting an unhealthy snack, when I know I will be having a healthy meal in a half hour. In other words, just to hold out a little…

You've done great! I'm right where you are now ... Same height, and around 145. Started at 179. I'd like to get to 130, also! Just started adding running to my walks. Let's cheer each other on!

Good for you! My fitness pal has helped me a lot! I know it will help you, too!

My advice would be, stick with what works for you to get to a healthy weight. If you are tired and cold a lot, make sure you are not anemic. Find foods that satisfy you and give you energy. Plan some unusual meals to avoid boredom.

I plan to quick add 3500 calories, and just not over-do. I consider it a well-deserved break from logging every bite. One large beer. Easy on the appetizers. One reasonable plateful, no seconds. One piece of pumpkin pie, easy on the whipped cream. (I make the pie with lard-free crust and I use skimmed evaporated milk for…

I have the mfp Android Ap. I use it to log my food and exercise. I also have a bookmark for the mfp website, and I have created a bookmark widget on my phone's home screen, so if I want to go to the message boards, I just click on that. It's fast.
