my nordictrack elliptical tells me i burn about half of what MFP tells me so i always went with the machines number so that i was not over-calculating. Now i have a HRM and it tells me i burn a small amount more than my machine so i am glad i always went with it.

i personally would go with the 72 cal/burn. my elliptical tells me i burn about half of what MFP says i would burn in the same amount of time and i have now been able to purchase a HRM and it's calorie burn for my time on the elliptical is pretty close to what my machine says. so ignore what MFP's database says. exercise…

the higher your heart rate is the lower your calorie burn is. a lower heart rate is for calorie/fat burn and a higher heart rate is for cardio workout.

i often go over on my protein. i am most careful about my sugar and sodium numbers.
