a brisk walk at 2-4 incline is the best for your knees, in fact, it's kinda bad for your knees to do much less than that. I cringe at people who put the incline at 10 and then hold on for dear life. They're burning far fewer calories than they think because their arms are supporting a good portion of their weight. I prefer…

when I get up, and right before I go to bed. Sounds like obsession and perhaps it was at one point, now it's just routine and often gives me a heads up as to foods to avoid (at least food combos) if I'm up a LOT at night, knowing you shed quite a bit while sleeping (between the body still doing it's calorie burning as…

Sometimes our bodies just don't get the message that we're trying to lose! stupid bodies! You'll get back on track with the losing in time and be at your goal before you know it :)

YEHAW! You're doing an amazing job! And yeah, my baby turns 3 next month, where has the time gone???
-
Official weigh in number is....drumroll please.....299.2!!!! I'm NEVER going to be in the 3s AGAIN!!!!! 6.8 pounds overall for the month, we'll see what the next week brings and see if I can't make it a little higher :) I like the sound of 8 pounds a month. not too much, not too little, it'll get me to where I want…

Holy Cow, that's amazing! Congrats! You look awesome!

I was told while I was pregnant, 100-300 calories extra was all I needed, but when BFing after the baby's here, you NEED up to 500 calories. So the first part means go back to not losing calorie total and add a small snack daily and you should be good to go. Good luck and HUGE Congrats!!!!!

I'm having the exact same issues with the machines at my gym. Some don't even read my heart rate at all and considering I'm working on my cardio right now I like to know what it is so I can track my progress. I would recommend getting a personal heart rate monitor and I much prefer the strap with wireless transmission to…

Great job!!! doing so well the first time trying is commendable!

I'm not worried about jinxing myself, I don't think, but the last three days I've seen a 2 at the start of my number, WOOHOO! I'm anxious to report in on Thursday!

There are studies to back just about any workout program you could imagine. some say working out longer is best, others say spurts of 10 minutes 3-6 times a day works just as well. So do what YOU feel works for you and tweak in order to see results if you have to. I personally find longer workouts work for me, but I'm also…

yup, Truvia is just a brand named stevia sweetener, it's not artificial or a sugar derivative like Splenda. I used to use stevia many years ago and I liked it, I don't use sugar in very many things other than occasional baking, but I never noticed much difference in taste and unlike sugar-derived artificial sweeteners (all…

I weighed in at 300.7 this morning. WOOHOO!!! I'll be 2-riffic in no time flat, then I have a long journey to being 1-derful, but I'll get there! I'm seeing so many changes, wish I'd measured pertinent areas before starting 3 months ago. Oh well, I can see and feel the changes, I don't need to see numbers on a page to…

probably somewhere between $150 and 200 a week for me, hubby and out toddler still in dipes and picky as all get out! (not that I eat anything put in front of me, I'm selective ;) ) It might be a bit less since we started getting milk delivered so that saves me from running into the store every few days and adding on…

You all are getting me psyched up! I'm just starting my journey to health and am currently working on my cardio health so I can then improve my strength and lose over 100 pounds. my first goal is to get to 289 and then I will start the c25k program with the help of the app on my phone/ipod. I'm excited because I've seen…

gotta love how sizes have gotten SO much bigger over the years. 20 years ago, at 5'10" in high school, at my lowest ever "grown kid/adult" weight of 140, I could SQUEEZE into a 10. now I see people 50 pounds heavier in that number size....I know we're all different shapes, but I was 15, I had few curves, hadn't had kids, I…

I was going to mention this too. I found mine to be a little dry, but I drained them then added back in a bit of water, like 4oz. I later read diet soda could also be used, or just more water. but the taste was great!

cardio works on the most important muscle in your body.....yes, you probably raise your heart rate during strength training, but any personal training session I've witnessed has included a stint on some sort of cardio machine. Oh and I might not have lost a ton of weight while only doing cardio for the last 2 months, but…

There wasn't one magical moment. I've been over 300 pounds (up to 310 at one point) for a while. DH has been out of work for 9 months now, DD is hitting her HORRIBLE 3s and money is so tight, it's not fun (could be worse, tho, I know). So when our 6 month hold on our gym membership was up in May, I realized I'd been paying…

Not sure I'm going to be able to keep up, we've got lots of participants (yippeee!) but my weekly weigh-in is officially 301.4. I KNEW last week was wonky, but it was what the scale said.....I'm WELL on my way to 5 pounds, wonder if I can double it :)

I can't say I've noticed anyone who's really that concerned about their appearance while working out. Oh and my gym has a cardio-cinema room where they show tv shows and movies and it's basically pitch black, so if you ARE concerned, you can do your cardio in there! I'm there to workout....
-
You can add me too. I LOVE seeing all the progress on my home page. my friends are my inspiration and motivation when I can't find it in myself! That's why I love MFP!

I remember my first elliptical workout, I lasted exactly 8 minutes! now I do 45 and could go on, but I gotta get home for dinner! I'm doing cardio right now, being at my heaviest, I felt my heart needed some attention before I start doing weights. once I hit 289 tho, I'm all about it! (and C25K!)

I used to pack quite a lunch to bring to work (before I had a baby and got the OK to have a fridge in my cube for keeping my pumped milk!) and I found a couple little ice packs and a frozen bottle of water worked REALLY well to keep things chilled until lunchtime and even for afternoon snacks. I was doing low carb a lot…

Oh, and this one makes me downright ANGRY! I've always had huge feet, was an 8 in 3rd grade. I'm tall, need a good foundation! I HATE when the cute shoes don't come in my size (11 now) or the stupid shoe company thinks a European 41 is an 11 (it's not, try a 42.5 or 43) because I CAN'T fit into them. oh and add plantar…

I did it once when I was on a good weight-loss trend, never EVER wore the dress, never fit into it. I may avoid items that I have to go into a larger size, but I don't buy things that are a smaller size just because of that. no one else sees the tag, why should I even care? I have a whole closet full of clothes that are…

I imagine people look at my food diary and get angry. I've done limitation diets and they just don't work for me. What? I can't have ANY bread? Yeah, just not me. BUT, I'm happy to have it only one meal a day or find a slightly healthier alternative to Grandma Sycamores white bread (ok, that's a lie, I still have that at…

Something we've discovered with our toddler, actual yogurt in the freezer is a great treat for her! we put in a big tub, but the smaller containers of your favorite flavor (probably not great for fruit on the bottom ones) would be tasty! and it's not different than eating it for a snack any other time of the day :)

I hate fake stuff, so when I eat ice cream, it's the real thing. I mean, fro-yo is fine, but anything that has artificial sweeteners in it is not on my list. just keep the portion small.
