Thanks for resurrecting. I have more or less cut out takeaway food now - mainly because I had two children and prefer to cook than feed them crap. I agree that the focus should be on overall health rather than calories in vs calories out.

I have a 7 month old who I breastfeed and I don't want to compromise milk supply but need to lose 20lbs or so

I feel so much more motivated now. I can see that it's all about making small changes as I go along rather than depriving myself. A little of what I want is not too bad but in moderation. I was even motivated to do 20 minutes exercise before leaving for work this morning :happy:

I am so pleased that I asked the question. You guys have definietly made me look at things differently and I have seen the light - I even made sandwiches for my lunch today so I will be giving the chip shop a miss! Thank you all for your comments.

I am definitely seeing the light here guys. Since joining up I have already started eating more fruit and less chocolate.The last "sin" I need to kick is takeaways - McD's, KFC and the chip shop.

This is really helpful stuff. Thanks so much guys. My main problem is lunch at work - I always take the easy option and go to the chippy. I'm then full up for the rest of the day though so end up skipping dinner.........

I really, really faniced a Boost bar at lunch time and when I checked it was 305cals!!! I put it right back on the shelf :sad:

Diskko - you must find that people do not understand your motivations and I must admit neither do I but I am pleased to hear that you have a point at which you stop and know your limits rather than spiralling out of control.

I'm 5ft 8 - nice to find this thread. My goal is 175lbs - that feels comfortable for me.

This is a fabulous idea. I've only just joined up but count me in. I'm weighing in at 192lbs right now but by xmas WILL be 175lbs. That is my goal - although the charts still say I'm overweight at 175lbs I don't want to go below that at all.
