How long should I go before recalculating my calorie goal?
I've lost a little more than 8lbs in the last 30 days, and have recalculated my calorie goal once, resulting in about 150 calories fewer than I was allocated previously. I was just wondering if there's a general rule of thumb for this, or any type of guideline. I want to make sure I stay on track with my projected losses.

One of my favorites - Slow-Cooked Buffalo Pulled Chicken
This has been a favorite of mine for a long time. It's super easy to make and actually isn't really bad for you. Here's what you need: -6 boneless skinless chicken breasts -1 bottle of Frank's Red Hot or Frank's Wing Sauce -1/2 cup of water -1 TBSP Garlic Powder -1 TBSP Onion Powder -1 TBSP Black Pepper -A crock pot / slow…

What difference is there, if any, between a candy bar and your average "energy" bar?
I was just looking at the nutrition info for an "energy" bar I ate as a snack today, and was surprised to find that for its size it had an awful lot in common with your average candy bar. 230 calories, 20g of sugar, 3g saturated fat, etc. The only real difference is that it seemed to have a lot more protein than a candy…

What role does metabolism actually play in weight loss?
So, since coming to MFP, I've had to re-learn a lot of what I thought I knew about weight loss and dieting in general. It's now become apparent to me that calories are king, so to speak. What you eat doesn't matter as much as how much you eat. I've been losing weight at my charted rate eating pretty much whatever I feel…

Do you like old, cheesy horror / sci-fi movies?
I'm building a website that streams classic old B-Rated and cheesy horror & sci-fi movies from the 1940s - 1980s. It works like a TV channel, so there's always something on. There's also a chat room so that you can talk about the movie with other viewers while you watch it. If you like these kinds of movies, check it out:…

Question about weight lifting
Due to some circumstances in my personal life, I am looking for a good distraction right now, and going to the gym seems like a good way to reroute my energy. I already get a decent amount of cardio daily (I walk 2 miles to work and 2 miles back), so I want to start some weight lifting / training. I have limited experience…

(Rant) Coworker thinks scales are evil
Ugh. This is so aggravating to me. I have a coworker who I've mentioned my goals to, and she is of the opinion that weighing yourself is terrible, and that scales cause psychological damage / eating disorders. We just got in a minor argument because she said that she doesn't believe in weighing herself, but that she wants…

How do you deal with logging food at restaurants with no posted nutrition info?
This is probably a fairly common scenario - you go to a restaurant, and they don't have nutrition info posted, even on the internet. They also don't have any entries in the MFP database. How do you deal with logging your food intake in this scenario?

~600 Calorie meal that can be broken into parts?
I am looking for ideas for a meal around 600 calories that can be eaten in parts. Eating half of my lunch and then waiting a few hours to eat the rest seems to help me avoid being hungry throughout the day. However, for me it's difficult to eat half of it if it's not easily divisible. Right now I'm eating Lean Pockets for…

One of the best motivational clips I've ever seen
From the show House of Cards. This clip is referring to alcoholism, but it applies to any addiction. Since many of us probably have what we'd consider to be mental dependencies on junk food, I thought some of you might also appreciate this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4X2SQ6eXVok

Started one week ago today
I started counting my calories one week ago today, and I'm officially down 2 pounds. Not much, but I'm 1/50th of the way to my goal. To me, that's huge. Even better than that though, I just got done eating lunch and I am just amazed right now. What would have left me hungry and wanting more last week has left me full and…

Feeling pretty good right now
I just started with my weight loss plan about 5 days ago, and only started using MyFitnessPal 3 days ago. However, I am having my first victory today. Eating about half of what I normally would eat, I no longer feel like I'm starving. I actually feel pretty good today.

Finally really motivated to get this done
I decided this week that there's no reason I shouldn't be working toward losing weight. I've tried a few things over the years, but never really committed to losing weight. I have a lot to lose now, but I'm confident that I can get it done.
