I just got a new heart rate monitor (Timex) and am not sure I believe the results. I just ran 6.3 miles in about 65 minutes (that includes a 5 minute cooldown) and it said I burned 1033 calories. I'm 27, 149 lbs. Is that possible? I always thought it was approx 100 calories per mile. Thanks!
I'm running in my very first 5k this Friday. Any advice on what to expect, what I should do this week to prepare for it, and what I should eat the day of? The race is at 6pm after work. I've been running on the treadmill for a few months but have usually avoided outdoor running due to bad knees.
