Exactly. I believe the 6 vs 2 calories a day thing only applies to BMR. So in AnvilHead's example, that 40 extra calories per day would end up being much more with increasing activity levels.2 -

When trying to gain weight, it would still be good to eat a balanced diet, but calorie dense foods can certainly help.1 -

I do my sets using 80-85 lbs. My estimated 1 rep max would be close to 110 lbs.1
