Re: 60 yrs and up
Ugh, surgery rescheduled to next Wednesday. Now rearranging the logistics I had set up to cover my responsibilities at the rowing club while I was off/healing.

Hmm, I don't like what is happening here⦠might need to back off the ice cream? Or is it water retention? not sure . last two nights for dinner I have had annies boxed "protein" max and cheese (probably full of salt) and my homemade turkey meatloaf. it will be chicken and salad tonight..
I have been staying on track with my workouts and since I am running the place solo I am more than getting my 10K steps in daily. Last two nights shoveling manure, mowing the yard (hand mower), dragging hose to water the trees, and pushing the wheelbarrow around in the heat (total sweatfest) I did have a couple of small servings Mon/Tues of ice cream but I didn't go crazy. Its been hot here and ice cream is my downfall this time of year ; doesn't seem to play nice with me .
I might need to resort to frozen yogurt or some other decent alternative I guess. I really want to get one of those Creami machines but I hate adding more gadgets to my kitchen since I don't have a ton of storage or counter space. (and will I ever use it or will it sit there like the instapot because I hate it!)
Have a great Thurs and happy Pre 4th of July for our american friends
Re: So Many People I Know are Taking GLP-1 or Similar and Losing a Bunch of Weight!
I think I was just having a bad day yesterday. Struggling this time around and being older is making it harder. It was just really hard yesterday to see those at my place of work boasting about their weight loss (and admittedly looking good) just really go to me.
What used to work for me, doesn't anymore and I feel like I am starting over from scratch and lost.
Re: "TLFC" exercise and accountability support!
Weight this morning: 169.4 lbs. So now I'm in pre-baby territory, right back to the summer of 2005.
I should apologize to the Ultimate Daniel Fast website creator because after my rant of a couple of days ago, I made her DF Baked Oatmeal recipe for breakfast. Baking without sugar is helpful in a deficit.
I could have eaten more during those 3 week Daniel Fasts but wanted to lose weight, even though that's not the point of the plan. I think my avg. calorie consumption was 1300, not enough. Yesterday I came in at 1850ish, with 700+ calories burned during workouts (not counting NEAT). So much easier to exercise more instead of cutting out all snacks and tasty foods. And inevitably, most of the pounds lost from the Daniel Fast crept back on.
This past month I've gone up on the scale a bit, then back down, but overall felt like I was just maintaining. However, that's not true.
May 28th weight: 176
June 2nd: 178 (not a true "gain" β just water, probably from going out to eat or that TOM)
July 3rd: 169.4
In the past 36 days I lost 6.5 pounds. It's a slower rate of loss than in the spring, as expected, but it isn't just maintaining my weight, either.
Options:
1) go into real maintenance, given two upcoming trips in July and a sprint triathlon at the end of August. Eating more food will help me go farther, faster on the bike and run.
2) Keep on with a "one pound of loss / week" goal with a few hundred more calories / day while traveling (but keeping under 2000).
3) Go "hell for leather," as a 1930s detective novel would say, and try to lose as much as possible to get below 160 lbs as soon as possible.
#3 is the option past me usually chose, and we know how that worked out, long term.
I like #2 for now.
Somehow option #1 scares me (if I go into maintenance, I'll never return?!). Gee, love how weight loss brings out all kinds of psychological battles. Some day fairly soon I'm going to prove to myself that "maintenance" does not mean "gain all the weight back." Losing fat is more important to me than how the triathlon goes. For now. Maybe that will change once August arrives.
Re: What irks you today?
My body is slowly betraying me. All these aches and pains. Im not that old to feel all this yet.
Re: "TLFC" exercise and accountability support!
Dinner last night was Papa Murphy's pizza. Had planned to eat 3 slices, which would have put me right at my calorie goal for the day. But made the mistake of watching TV while I ate, next thing you know I was 4.5 slices before I stopped. Will cut back slightly over the next couple days to compensate.

FIRST HALF OF THE MONTH:
07/01 β188.8 β (Trend Weight β 190.4) Well I was certainly hoping for a bigger drop than 0.2 but I guess slow progress is still progress. It was a very good dietary day filled with good choices and I worked out on the bike for 30 minutes (2 sessions of 15 minutes). Intentional exercise is something I really need to keep working in. Today is my son that lives at home and my first DGSβs birthdays. We will be going out to dinner out of town tonight. Dinner wonβt be until about 7:30. Iβve been sticking to my guns and carefully choosing what Iβm eating this afternoon. My son is turning 29 and my grandson 19.
πΆββοΈπΆββοΈπΆββοΈ07/02- 190.0 β (Trend Weight β 190.4) I actually didnβt do too bad during the out-to-dinner and out-of-town birthday celebration mainly held for my son who turned 29 yesterday. I didnβt do too badly at the restaurant but for the rest of the night at homeβ¦.humph. To say I was like a pig in a pigβs trough wouldnβt be 100% accurate. More like a wild boar in a pigβs trough who hasnβt seen food in weeks! Anyway, I really blew it with my self-sabotage. I know thatβs what it was because I continued eating even when I was so full it was trying to come back up! Disgusting, I know. Thatβs a true binge! Iβm grateful the scale wasnβt higher. Iβm already working on a much better and healthier day today which I hope will show up for me tomorrow. I'm always so disappointed in myself and my relationship with food during these times. It's a continual battle and sometimes I give in but I never give up!
