Good day ladies and gents!!
Hope this finds everyone well and rested for the day ahead of you.
I'd like to thank everyone for the well wishes for the surgery ahead. It's a long journey to get there, but I truly believe I am making the very best choice for myself.
Update on caffeine..... headache is gone. Thank goodness.
So what is everyone up to today?? I have a happy hour this evening. I've decided to partake in happy hour, but no drinks. I have to give up alcohol for the new life I will be leading, so I might as well start today, Right? Anyone like to share their weekend plans??

Today is Thursday so for me it means that tonight is basketball night. I love basketball night. This weekend my friend is having a fall/Halloween shindig so I get to help set up for that. It should be a fun time.0

Weekend plans: survive... LOL That's all my plans ever usually include, as I feel like I never have down time during the week, so I savor my down time on the weekends. My fiance is the opposite. He doesn't feel like he gets to do anything, so he wants to run run run all weekend. Makes me crazy.
Carrie - Aside from that, I really don't miss alcohol. It never did much for me. I hope your adjustment is easy. Even though I don't really drink, I still have that feeling of "I had a maddeningly stressful day, pour me a stiff one!" It is a thought, and I ignore it, usually laughing. Glad to hear your headaches are gone!! Now focus on remembering that misery any time you are tempted to have another sip...that is my stumbling block! LOL
Ronercat - yay for basketball! And for parties. I don't know of any that we have been invited to at all (only one last year), so doubtful to be doing much of anything. My guy works security (and I bounce or do light duty with him on occasion), so Halloween is usually a heavy working day - not a party day. Have to protect idiots from themselves!! LOL Enjoy your party - setup is so much fun sometimes!
Today is an I don't wanna day, so I'm about to go make myself walk just to prove I can.
Happy Thursday, all,

I am a rare drinker. Maybe a couple.of.times a year. Chocolate is my huge vice but I've simply found a way to.work it in. Here.in the UK you can get small chocolate bars called freddos and they are only 95 calories so I have one pretty much every day and occasionally if I've got spare calories I have two. They are really.lovely and hit the spot. Personally for.me being able.to have a little every day works better than removing things from my.diet but everyone works differently and if you are.cutting alcohol totally then kudos to.you. Hurray to the caffeine headache being gone. I've had coke today but that will probably be it.til monday night now.
Enjoy.your downtime Carly. I'm now on early tomorrow, twelve hours Saturday and Sunday and another early Monday and ive got.personal trainer then looking after my nephew as well as the kids tuesday so.I am looking.forward to next Wednesday for a rest! I don't stop much. Between now and a.week tomorrow I've also got.to find time to read.for.a job interview. A lot.of.boring health care.legislation but.it's.got.to be done. Am gonna hit the gym tonight when hubs gets home then start studying.
Enjoy the basketball roner and your party

We are going camping tomorrow, and I'm totally not ready. We haven't been since before we moved into this house, and I honestly don't know where everything is. It's group camping, though, so as long as I can find the tent and air mattresses, we'll probably be okay. It was really poor planning on my part though, because we just came back from a trip on Sunday and I'm still trying to catch up from that. Life is so hectic!
I don't drink often, but I definitely consider whether the calories are worth it. A glass of wine here or there works fine, but only once a month or so. I do drink a lot of sparkling water though, and love the old trick of having a lime in it, so it looks like you're drinking. Not that people really care, but it's easier than having to answer "why aren't you having a drink?"
I don't wanna either, Carly, but I'm going to also. That's been the hardest to get back into since being sick and taking vacation. 2 weeks without my daily walk really made the habit less appealing. Got to keep on keeping on though...

Good job for forcing yourselves to move even though you don't want to.
Today is my husband's birthday. He is down 90 lbs from where he was last year at this time. He has trouble seeing the difference in his body so we are going to recreate his photo with his cake to be the exact same as last years. I think it will be cool to see and maybe help him a bit.
I got my first comment (other than from hubby and kids ) about my weight loss today. I went to get my hair cut and the woman behind the counter was looking at me funny. She asked "Did you lose weight....like a lotta lotta weight?" Then she went on to ask how much and she was extremely impressed and wanted to know how I did it. When I told her she kind of looked disappointed, I think she was looking for a quick fix. I have had the same hair cut for 4 years and today I just got it cut much shorter. I tended hide behind my hair so it is a big change...too short for a pony tail so I didn't really think that through. I really really needed someone to notice my weight just to prove to myself that it was happening and to get that as well as have the scale finally move this morning it is an awesome day!!!!!0 -
Wennim,
That is awesome news about the comment from someone outside the family! That comment is always so wonderful to hear. It is also nice to hear that you are making a change and not hiding behind your hair. Your hair is probably quite a bit shorter than mine is at the moment. I have been growing it out for two years to donate and it will finally be cut in about a month. My father will be so relieved.
Carly and Caroline, good luck with your I don't wanna walks.

Aw thats great Wennim. I've had 2 people at work notice this week even though I cant see it in myself yet and it definitely makes a big difference. My hair is a number 3 round the back and sides and spiky on top usually purple so Im glad my face is slimming a bit as its hard to pull that off with a fat face0
-
I'm letting my hair grow out as my best friend advised me that my face is "way to fat" to pull off a short style. I cannot wait for the day to cut this hair all off.0
-
I am determined to slim into my hair lol. I've had short hair most of my life. Takes too damn long to grow it out and it all grows thick like mental thick on top and once past my neck has to be brushed 3 times a day as its unruly. Plus short I can colour it as often as I like. I'm usually two tone but havent been able to have my friend do it for a while so its boring brown atm.0

Evening everyone,
It was a work day and then an a nice evening/night ride. I was mocked by a cat as i rode up a hill at a piddly 6mph. The cat came over and sauntered up the hill faster then I could ride. Their was a nice cat at the top of the hill who cam over to be petted, of course he distracted me and I made a wrong turn getting myself lost. They might have been planning it together. Further proof that dogs are better then cats.
Otherwise I had a nice day.
I don't drink, so not an issue.
I still get annoyed by comments from time to time. Not always but when people inquire I get uncomfortable. I'm use to being uncomfortable in social situations so I can put on a good smile and answer their questions, but it still feels like secretly getting judged. I know their intentions are good, it's just the first thought in my head. They would have never mentioned my weight before so noticing my weight loss is like confirming how fat they thought I was before (which I was). But I preferred the shared lie.0 -
Carrie - I once had a hairdresser (male) tell me that short or long hair doesn't matter regardless of weight. It is how confident and happy you feel in a hairstyle. I don't know that I fully bought it, but at that time, he gave me the courage I needed to cut my hair shorter, as I had wanted to do... I've since grown it back out again, for a number of reasons... But much like clothes, and hell, even life, it isn't our appearance that makes us - it is our confidence, ease, and happiness people notice. I would further this idea to say that in my opinion, a lot of the reason heavier people stand out to the general public is that I personally notice the larger a person is, they more they radiate their own unhappiness. It is that aura of misery that catches the senses long before the eye is caught by a larger person...at least for me, and in my own personal experience. When I was more miserable, I know more people noticed. Now that I'm much happier with myself, I can't believe the number of people I'm not in touch with as frequently anymore who come up to me and say how much better I look, even though I'm around the same weight sometimes since I've seen them...but I'm SO much happier now... I've even been accused of glowing once or twice. So, lesson is, figure out how to get comfortable in your own skin, no matter what that is...you future happiness depends on it!
Hugs,
carly in OK0
