hi. Need your help
After doing my first 10 k on 10th Aug 2014, I planned to do HM on upcoming 19th oct event in Bangalore (India). I started training for it and was doing 15k, 2.5 weeks back. however, got groin strain during my last run.
I took a break from running for 4 days and tried again but pain came back. Now its been 15 days since I have run and pain is still there. It comes back even if try to walk faster for more than 30 minutes.
To give my background I am 29 yrs old, height 6'1'' and weigh 90 kgs. Have lost about 25 kgs in last 1.5 years mostly by walking, jogging, cycling and some weight training.
I went to doctor for my injury and he suggested to give HM training a rest till I lose another 10kgs. It was a heart break (I was excited about my HM next weekend), but i want to keep running when i get older. So, Planning to take Doctor's advice.
Now I want to know from your practical experiences, if i should go with Doctor's advice. Should I wait till i lose another 10kgs or Can I start training again if i feel comfortable. Did I do too much too soon?

My first HM I ran, I was probably about 85-90kgs (am also 6"1). I didnt have any abnormal problems. You might have just flared something up just like what happens from time to time. Your ideal weight is around 75kg, so it is not as if your body is carrying excessive amounts. But hey, I am not a doctor.

I would find another doctor. There are plenty of people your weight and heavier that are running all the time.
