I did my bmi today. I've managed to drop it from 47.6 to 42.1. I worked out in another six kilos I won't actually technically be morbidly obese anymore just regularly old obese. Gives me a mini target to aim at. At my current weight loss rate will be about five to six weeks!
Can I stay here anyway

Yes, in the past they have said that once you were in this category, you could always stay. I'm sure someone else will chime in, too.
Well, color me shocked. I just went to recalculate my BMI to add it here. Last I checked it was 48-52%. According to WebMD's calculator, it is 43.3% (or 43.25% technically). This means to get to a BMI of 39%, out of morbid obesity into severe obesity, I have to get down to around 227 pounds. That is 25 pounds gone from my current 252 pounds. Since I'm aiming for a pound a week, that is 25 weeks, roughly 6 months. That is my exciting, because I can get there faster if I so choose, but also scary because that is so far off.
Goals out in the future too far are not happy making for me...
But, Lise, congrats on your changes so far, and on your progress to come! That is inspiring!0 -
Ah glad I can stay. You may take less than 6 months especially as you have upped your exercise but if you dont remember its not a sprint its a marathon0

Wow! Glad I saw this thread. I'm slowly working through old threads to catch up. I just calculated my BMI and I've gone from 51.2 to 41.3 Just shy of 10%. I'm almost out of morbidly obese as well. 10 pounds to go.
Honestly, I never thought there was an official guideline. I just didn't think about it. Kind of nice to be "graduating".
This might call for a pedicure!0 -
Awesome. I don't know if I'll celebrate it. Maybe by buying another pair of a smaller sized pants. Probably will need it by then. LOL0

The spreadsheet I keep to track all my measurements on (calorie deficits and weight) also calculates my BMI each time I record a weigh in and It's conditionally color coded so that when my BMI change moves me into a new classification it changes color. I have been waiting so long for it to go from red to pink. I only have to drop one more point from 35.91 to 34.9 and I can drop from Obese Class II to Obese Class I... and then onto overweight.0
