What do people think about adding optional height field

First off thanks for the group I'm finding it really motivating! Also big respect to everyone who enters their figures even on the trickier weeks too let's all keep going together.

Now I was just curious if adding an optional height field would be interesting for anyone? With height data, combined with the weights we have, extra fields could be calculated so one could see ones start and current bmi and the change in bmi for those people interested in tracking that change.

As the height would be optional to enter for each person I'd hope it wouldn't have any demotivating aspect for any person as they don't need to add their height if bmi is not interesting to them.

tanek747, I must applaud you for your awesome results. Ranked #1 in 2 out of 3 Rankings you can brag to be a 100 Days group celebrity. Can you share what worked for you? What are your exercise and food choices? Any specific technique that you used to overcome food temptation and to stay on track?

I like the idea as it can be hard to put my current and goal weights in perspective when comparing to much shorter people, and the number can still look bigger than it really is without height in mind.

In order to keep things simple I disagree with this add on at this stage. It can be implemented at the beginning of a challenge when members are more motivated and can share such details. Most likely it will be part of the sequel of this group (if members are comfortable). I agree that BMI is an excellent way to determine our long term healthy goals. But our challenge as a group is to have weigh in of everyone or at least the members who initially signed up on the spreadsheet.

I like keeping it simple with just the weight listing. If someone is interested in BMI there are simple tools online that can calculate that.

I agree. Adding a height column and calcuating BMI is a fantastic idea, but much easier to implement at the outset of a challenge, when people are very motivated to contribute. It should 100% be part of the chart on the next challenge  What a great idea!!

I totally get that it's maybe a bit late in the day for the height to bmi idea. It came to me because I'm planning to leave the obese bmi range sometime in the next couple of weigh-ins and reach just overweight (under 4kg to go now) but any of the charts and online calcs I've found really clunky to use for bmi, and most of all I'm expecting to slow down a lot in raw numbers the closer I get to goal weight.

So looking up my bmi would seem a good way to help stop myself getting demotivated when I expect my numbers per week should slow down. Anyway I hope that height to allow BMI calculations idea is maybe helpful for future challenges for others (who choose to enter height of course, it should be optional so it doesn't make anyone uncomfortable).
