How is everyone today. I have had my interview for the sisters post and am slowly driving myself mad waiting for a phone call.
I also got a notification from NHS jobs today saying I have been invited for another interview for the job of clinical site manager at the hospital. Its a band higher than I am on now and managerial and I applied on a whim not even expecting an interview. So tonight no matter the outcome I will rest and work this weekend then monday start the hard work for the next interview.
Also my protein powder came in the post. Am planning on a protein shake on workout days and trying to change my eating a bit which is currently pretty carb and sugar heavy for more protein. Am already meal planning and shopping weekly for the family so need to read up a bit and workout how to work it all in as I still want to roughly eat family meals.
Tonight however is going to not be a night of model eating. I dont know if I will be celebrating or comforting myself but I am needing a night off watching myself 24/7

Good luck on the interviews - results and prep... Protein shakes can be a good thing, just remember if you don't burn the protein when you eat it, it will convert back to sugar/fat storage, too, so don't use too much. I just modify the meals I make a little and don't eat as much or leave off the carby stuff from my guy. I use www.skinnytaste.com for a lot of recipes, so many of them are great. Our fave is the beef pepper steak. I just use less rice than my guy and a smaller portion, and add extra peppers to the mix. I like the Spring Chicken Stir Fry too... I refuse to cook two separate meals, and in my new way of thinking, I have to lose weight the same way I want to maintain - no foods off limits if I plan to add them back later, etc., so that makes it more about portions and about healthying up the basic recipes anyway.
I can't go completely off the rails or I have a much harder time getting back on them. Enjoy your night off, then come back and have fun again here with us!0 -

I started having a protein drink for breakfast every day and it's made a huge difference for me. Mine's not really heavy on the protein, but moderately so. As someone who shuns breakfast, it took establishing this habit to make breakfast part of my life. I generally don't want to chew in the morning, for whatever strange reason. I can drink boatloads of coffee though, so I started mixing some coffee into a Designer Whey drink with some PB2 and it's delicious! Keeps my hunger at bay for hours too. I buy the one that uses Stevia, and that took some getting used to. I don't use any artificial sweeteners, but it's gotten to the point where it tastes good to me now, thank goodness. My recipe is: fill a pint mason jar halfway with ice, cover that with milk, add a shot of espresso, one scoop of chocolate Designer Whey, and 2 tablespoons of chocolate PB2. Shake shake shake, and it's awesome. Portable too, if I'm running out the door. It goes down easier with a straw, so I keep straws in the house now, which my son loves!
Sorry about the job.Hope the next opportunity works out though!
I definitely need to check out that website Carly. Sounds like we eat similarly. I totally agree, nothing's off limits, but managing how it all fits together is what I focus on. Last night, we went to Macaroni Grill, and I was SHOCKED at how many calories everything had. Seriously, very few dishes were under 1000 calories. I ended up ordering a "make your own pasta" dish, and it was about 600, but had lots of veggies and was absolutely delicious. I think that was the first time we'd eaten there in many, many years. It would be so easy to go waaaay off the deep end there. Yikes!

Yeah, Caroline, I'm with you. I look at restaurant meals and my first thought is usually, I could make that at home for less cost, less calories, and have two to three servings! Then I remember what a lazy butt I am and think of compromise. Sounds like your make your own was a great compromise!
Other than the espresso part, love the sounds of your protein drink... I tried for about 10 days to start a love affair with coffee, and it so wasn't happening. I just can't take the bitter edge with nothing but a burnt chocolate watery taste to follow, no matter how much creamer and other stuff I used... BLECH... At least it leaves more for you coffee lovers! LOL
Lise, Sorry to hear about the job, but consider it prep for the next one headed your way - the one MEANT for you!!0 -
Thanks. I didn't check in over weekend as my head was pretty down but I'm working on the next one. I figure sooner or later they will promote.me because I'm.bugging them....0
