Hey ladies!
I am about to start the program on Monday and am researching proper form etc... just had one question about the barbell rows... if i am just starting with the bar (45 lbs) does the bar still need to touch the floor.. sorry if thats a dumb question lol.
Also, i am 5'2'' and 120 lbs i am so nervous that i cant do it
tips or words of inspiration? I am really excited to start.. just nervous that i am starting in a coed gym...

Hi Steph, and welcome!
First of all, I totally understand that you're nervous, but can pretty much promise that most of the folks in the gym won't be paying any attention to what you're doing -- and if they are, they're usually nice and encouraging. Just concentrate on your workout, your form, and your business and you'll do just fine!
Regarding rows, if you're starting with just the bar, I would recommend that you stack either steps or plates (~3) in order to get the height right. (Same with deadlifts.) And yes, you'll tap them with the bar on the extension. And if the bar is too heavy, many gyms have lighter ones (or dumbbells), so use whatever feels most comfortable for you. The weights go up quickly, so don't worry about starting too light. Concentrate on your form to get that locked in as soon as possible.
Definitely come by the awesome daily check in thread and let us know how you're doing. This is seriously the best, most supportive, helpful group. I think you're going to love it here!Courtney

pssst . . . it's safe to ask 'dumb' questions in here. you should see some of mine.i am so nervous that i cant do it
you can. if you 'can't do' it this monday, then there's wednesday, friday, saturday . . . and if any particular lift is a problem on a particular day, come on back here and someone will have a workaround or suggestion.
anyway, 'inspiration'. i'll tell you what my kid told me when he was around 8 because i love this story so much even now he's 24. he played little league for the first time at that age, and turned out to be my own little personal yogi berra. i asked him how come he'd even got put in to catch, because i couldn't help wondering he'd somehow known he would be such a natural. he's very earnest, my kidhe put on that super-serious explainy voice he used to have and said 'well, you see, i didn't know if i could do it, but i wanted to find out if i could. so i asked the coach if i could try playing catcher and she made me the catcher that game.' end of story. he played catcher for years.
point is, if 'can i do it' is stressing you out, sometimes it's great to go into something just saying 'i don't know if i can do it, but i want to find out if i can.' plain old curiosity has probably taken me at least as far as courage, in my own life.0 -
