  • Sorry, sooo many posts from me but wanted to share :) Im feeling REALLY positive this week about tracking, food and exercise. last week (Friday and Saturday) were tough. but ive come to some conclusions: -Promise myself that even on yucky days I eat 1872cals for maintenance. -Don't even think about cutting until at least 56kgs. -Go easier on macro ratios and focus on calories :) -Don't obsess over abs -don't freak out about not training upper body this week (3x leg sessions is alllll good) Hehe sorry :) rant over. Just needed to get that off my chest. You ladies are great support and im happy to be a part of the women who bulk community :) Im enjoying following all of you and if you want to add me as a friend feel free ;) lets share and get stronger! Cheers :)

Sounds like a plan. Ya don't take things too seriously... have fun with it. Just remember you are in control of your bulk.. it is not the same as gaining weight by being careless and mindless overeating... you are on a mission!
  • :) this is true!! Thanks love! Lost weight againnnn grrr... I know im hitting my goals though so ill see how I go. I expected 2200 cals to make me go way higher on the scale but I still have abs, losing weight and eating the worlds supply of carbs. Im no longer scared of carbs :) YAY!!

You have to consider you had a 1200 calorie day last week. So remember to view everything in averages. What was your average calorie intake for last week and compare that to your maintenance.
  • that is true, I didn't realize it would make such a difference. My maintenance cals are 1872 and my average for last week was 1993. So I guess that's why I haven't gained much at all. Oh well, a new week :)
thanks for your help freckles !
  • oh crumbs :( weigh in this morning and lost 100grams. i wish my lifting sessions would start building some muscle for me :(

Patience my friend. You need to eat at your target goal first for a few weeks before getting upset. Also weight gain, like weight loss, is not linear. It's gonna go up and down every day. The overall trend is what's important. Might I suggest only weighing yourself once a week if the little changes bother you?
  • Thanks :) I think once a week will be wise :) i'm feeling energized and strong so that's what matters :) Also, ive been hesitant to go over my fat goal by im feeling like it will be easier to reach cals with fat. is this okay??

Well you know my position on fats. It's like going over on protein. I don't worry about it. I hit my minimum goal for each and anything over is gravy.

Interested to see what others say. I see so many people on MFP trying to hit their macro percentages exactly and i'd love to hear their reasoning behind it. Unless you physically feel better eating a certain number of carbs or protein or fats, I don't get it.
  • I can almost never reach my carb goal and ALWAYS go over protein.
I guess the who 'If it fits your macros' phenomenon has made people think 'I have to be number perfect with my food'.
Ive realized that not every one is the same and some prefer carbs or fats or protein. im new to all this so im trying to find a way to not be so obsessive with meeting number exactly.
Do you feel like 'if it fits your macros' is an overwhelming phenomenon? I find it a little anxiety inducing at times as a young woman (with all the instagram promotion etc).

Im going to try and become ok with meeting my calorie target even if it means eating more fats. :)))

I don't see my carbs as a "goal" really, I do see my proteins and fats as minimums (so if I go over, no biggie), then fill the rest with carbs. Just don't overthink it, I think hitting macros right on is going to cause unnecessary stress, especially during a bulk. The only time is if I have fat and protein left I try to fill it up but otherwise just go with the flow.
  • yeah the 'if it fits your macros' trend was causing me much anxiety. its impossible for me to eat over 300 grams of carbs a day and feels unnatural.
Ladies, thank you for all of your support :) this little one sometimes needs some guidance haha. :)
  • Also, im going to try less tracking (i.e- logging my food AFTER ive eaten what my body Is CRAVING). I can definitely meet my fat and protein target this way and the rest will be intuitive. ive been dreaming about measuring my fruit and stressing about the size of apples/bananas and potatoes/exact measurements of peanut butter :( -all of these foods I are my favourites now and are 'safe' ( I used to avoid these foods in highschool thinking that they would make me fat) . I now consider them 'clean' and I deserve an abundant supply of whenever I want :)
    - rant.over :) I sorry, I think all of the numbers are tiring me out :/

I think that's a fine idea. That's how I do it too. I never pre-log my food. Just be sure to weigh and measure everything as you go. Bulking is all about the numbers, so you still need to make sure you're hitting your calorie goal at the end of the day.
  • thanks :) ive made the mistake of planning my day the night before... bit too obsessive. today felt much better :)
  • Okay ladies, I wanted to share something with you all. In the past during highschool and university I suffered from an eating disorder. I wont go into detail but since buying my food scale ive felt some of my old anxieties return. So for that reason Im going to stop weighing my food and just roughly track for now.
    BUT
I am still on my bulking mission :) I just don't believe it should be affecting me to the point of literally dreaming about weighing my bananas and peanut butter and not wanting to spend quality time with my best friend when she invites me to dinner etc.

Ya'll are all beautiful and inspirational :)
