Surviving the weekends?
This weekend, though I didn't eat a whole ton of junk, I made homemade lemonade and tea for my sweetie, both fully leaded (with real sugar). I drank a lot of the lemonade and a little of the tea. Usually, I'm all water... No idea where it came from... Just wanted to be lazy and enjoy my weekend....
What about y'all?
Hugs, Carly in Oklahoma with its very confused weather! LOL

Hello my dear friends. I am so sorry that I kinda dropped off the face of the earth on you. Thank you Nancy and Pat for checking on me. I've not been in a real good place and have been dealing with far too many things. Between medication changes, blood work, my therapist and a very good friend of mine, I think I have finally pulled myself out of that dark place and have accepted things that I can not change so that I'm able to work on the things that I can change. Luckily, I'm only up 1 1/2 pounds. I wasn't really eating bad but I wasn't really eating at all. Some days I was lucky to get even one meal in a day. I have found out through the blood work that I was deficient in several different vitamins and minerals (which can happen very easily because of the gastric bypass). I have managed to get all of the supplements that I need and am working on getting myself back to where I need to be. Now it's time for me to get my head completely back in the game......logging, exercise, supplements, everything. And of course support. I'm no longer able to get to my gastric bypass support group and this journey just isn't possible without support. And silly me was ignoring the one support system that I do have access to.......all of you! So, I'm back....ready to give and get support. Time to get my butt back in the game!!!

I went to the state fair and enjoyed things I probably shouldn't have... like a corn dog and a half a funnel cake. However, I walked over 22k steps according to my fitbit. I try to justify my state fair goodies with this..not sure though. However, I went ahead and weighed in the next day because it'd been awhile and luckily I was down almost 5 more lbs. So, just gotta keep it up!0

Dee, I'm so glad to see you back and so saddened by all your struggles... We are here as you need! Hugs, Carly
P.S. Sleaterkitty - I think you're doing something that works!
P.P.S. Lise- potty training a boy? You're a brave, brave soul!0 -
Yeah my sister works full time and cos I work 12 hour shifts I only do 2.5 days a week so I have him once a week and this week twice, yesterday and today. Hes doing really well hes been dry two days straight with me. Taking a 2yo, a 3yo and a 5yo to the loo in costa though is not an experience I care to repeat and I have to remember to teach him to shake his winky. So much easier just getting girls to wipe their bits. Am also seeing rather more winky than I prefer last cpl days!!!
What is a corn dog? Ive heard of them but being UK never tried one Whats a funnel cake come to that?
Hello Dee nice to meet you.0 -
Have a boy so to let you know while we did teach him to shake he also does 'dab dab'. Uses toilet tissue to dab at the end otherwise you get dribbles.0

Heh potty training a boy. I used cloth diapers, so my boy was confused by undies. They felt just like dipes to him, so I figured out that if he went commando (no undies, no diaper) he did awesome! And, with a boy it was huge motivation to let him pee off the back deck of my house, or on my car tire if we were out shopping. That phase only lasted a couple of weeks, just to get him excited about making pee-pee! Yay! LOL, he uses the toilet appropriately now.
Corn dog is a hot dog dipped in corn bread batter and deep fried. Funnel cake is kind of like a pancake (griddle cake?) batter, that is also deep fried in a drizzly pattern and covered with powdered sugar and sometimes chocolate syrup and/or strawberries. Notice the pattern there? Deep fried. Our state fair is running this week and people have been reporting all sorts of horrifying fried things - probably shouldn't list them all because they might trigger someone, but rest assured, if it's sweet and/or chocolatey, it can probably be batter coated and deep fried.
Doing pretty well here. I had kidney stones last year, and mine are caused by too much uric acid, which is caused by animal proteins. As someone who likes to eat low carb, this is a tough balance for me to manage, and I think my symptoms are returning. There's a medication I need to get on, to help alkalinize my urine (speaking of potty training...) But, getting to the doctor is a royal pain in the rear. Pain is a pretty powerful motivator though, so I should get in soon.
This weekend, I'm taking my husband and son zip lining. My daughter and I are afraid of heights, but I'm seriously considering joining in anyway. You must weigh less than 250lbs, and I do now, but only by about 10 pounds. Not sure if they make you weigh with gear on or how that works, so I'm anxious about this. Can't decide if I should take the leap (literally) and risk the embarassment of being too heavy, or stay safe on the ground. This is definitely a touchy subject for us that are obese, so I know you guys will understand my fears. Has anyone dealt with this recently?

That is kind of a dream of mine, Caroline, to do something adventurous like zip-lining. I personally wouldn't feel embarrassed. I would call ahead and if necessary give a false name/scenario and ask - is the 250 before equipment or after? This is reward to self, or something like that...
Good luck getting meds! I can't imagine being low carb and managing not having too much animal proteins...
LOL @ Lise - I bet there are a ton of British foods we wouldn't know either... My fiance has only been back in the states about 2.5 years after living 8 or so in Britain, so I'm used to his explanations about the differences here to there...it is amusing to say the least.0
