Meditation
Friday, Ordinary 30, Proper 25 dispensed the ways that believers can rely on God. The Psalmist, Moses, sang his song of triumph—how God helped the Children of Israel in the wilderness, even when they disobeyed and turned away from God, how they could always trust in God who controlled the universe and all of creation.
The author of Deuteronomy spoke to that creation and acknowledged the ‘Rock’ or, God, who faithfully and righteously provided for all the needs of the Children of Israel. Yet, they ran away from him and turned to other Gods. Still he took them back and protected them, gave them the Promised Land, and they still turned away again.
Paul gave a crash course to Titus in the New Testament lesson about how to lead a church. The qualities of leadership were: honesty, accuracy, being above criticism, gravity, living in a way that pleased God, and teaching the grace of God, which offered salvation to all, while encouraging believers to do good. The source was God. Just as God was the rock in the Old Testament, and the creator of all, God will be there for us. The sovereign God Most High, who gave us life, would always be faithful and reliable.
We have a choice—to be like those who turned away to false gods—demons, who never did a good thing for the Hebrews—or we can choose to be like Titus, follow in the footsteps of the apostles and do good.
Thanks be to God.

Prayer: Almighty God, Open my eyes that I might see. Open my mind that I might understand. Open my heart that I might make your words a part of me. May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in your sight. Amen

Almighty God, you are our Rock. You are the source of all life and through your grace, we have received salvation for our sins. We give you thanks and praise. In Jesus name, Amen

Conclusion
Friday, Ordinary 30, Proper 25’s lesson shared the ways that we can rely on the source, the Rock of our salvation, because we know of the past, where God was faithful and provided for the Hebrew people, even when they turned their backs on him…he took them back and they turned away again.
In the New Testament, Titus was establishing the new church on the Island of Crete and Paul sent him the directions for being a bishop—a leader of the church. We are to be examples for others—doing things in ways that please God and encourage believers to show true devotion to God.
Go out and be ready for God to do mighty things in your life—for the glory of God.*

*If you do not know the Lord as your personal Savior and you are seeking, please contact me. A genuine and simple prayer, asking God into your heart for the forgiveness of your sins will also do.
