We are going to miss the hangout. Left Shooting/Camping later than expected but had fun shooting M1A1 and my AR 15. Arturo was shooting Tavor 5.56. I like the M1A1 ;)

    Happy Monday Folks!

Heron- Lots o Fun with an M1A1 is one of my fav's as well. I remembered after posting that the Hangout is next Sun so you didn't miss it.

Got my CDSS test done and passed. So I am now a Certified Disability Sports Specialist Level II. I now get to hang initials after my name at the Hospital. May not seem like much but but trust me when I say professional quals that go on the sig block are a bigger deal than in most other places, and its pretty cool to be the first and for now the only one at my hospital. B)

On the lifting front did a great deadlift session yesterday. Dropped back to 60% of what I had been lifting and feel pretty good this morning. Enough of a workout to feel it but no apparent overstress on the back. will up it another 10 % next week.

have a great day everybody and keep on jammin'!

I'm back at it, after a not-so-great weekend. I stood in a wedding, so there was plenty of not good for me food, but I don't think I did too terribly. I did the same bulk chicken breast and salad for this week.

Next week will be the true test, because my wife and I will be on a cruise with TONS of great food!

Well got my Fitbit report for last week. First time I didn't make 10K steps per day for my average missed it by 147 steps per day. Got to fix that, before it becomes a habit. Not obsessed with it but using it as a tool.

    Happy Tuesday Folks. B)

Hey all still lurking around. Have to get back to logging stuff, have put on some pounds lately and not liking it. Just been lazy...

Signed up for a 10k run and gun in January. Will be doing it with my Garand, that will be a challenge.

Great I didn't miss the hangout!

John- Congratulations on your test! and missing 147 steps is not that bad.

TJ- Cruises are tough... Good luck! Try pre logging what you think you might eat or drink the night before. That always help me when I am going to eat out or on vacation since I know there are things I will have; wine, bread and sweets

I am cleaning wet camping gear AGAIN! :s But it was a great trip! I got to do a lot of incline walking, teaching kids how to shoot and seeing them loving it, oh and I finally got to shoot in a prone position.

Kevin - That's great that you signed up for the run and gun, have you been training?

I did the hydrostatic analysis and my body fat % is 27.61% . Yay I'm in the acceptable range. I hope to be in the athletic range (21-25%) by end of the year.

    Happy Wednesday Folks!

Heron sounds like lots o Fun. I always enjoyed teaching good marksmanship to my troops. Prone position is the basic position for military marksmanship since it presents the smallest target for the bad guys and is the most stable but I liked shooting from the standing unsupported position cause I had better target acquisition skills standing up.
Congrats on the BF%! Guessing it would be about a 3-5 lb loss between now and jan to meet that goal and is ambitious but certainly doable. Keep on Rockin'!

Kevin Welcome home and 9lbs of fun with that garand, 11 loaded and with a sling if I remember right, Plenty of time to get some good training in between now and Jan,

    TJ Have fun lad !

Not much new to report here fixin to hit the street and get a good walk in before heading to work. Have a great day Folks and remember...B B)

    Hi TJ,
Enjoy the cruise. Just remember that their desserts are never as good as they look. There are loads of veggies and salads already prepared for you, and plenty of decent protein options. Depending on the ship, you might have a great fitness center. Just take it easy on the alcohol and you can be fine! The last cruise I was on, I lost weight - not a lot, but sure beats gaining.

After nearly a month on the road, I am so glad to be home and eating my normal food again. For me the issue with travel is lack of veggies. A scrap of lettuce doesn't count. So last week I went into a Chinese restaurant and got a big order of steamed veggies with spicy garlic sauce on the side, and rice. I took it back to my Embassy Suites room, and enjoyed it over 3 days thanks to the fridge and microwave. I have to remember to do that again!

Thanks, everyone. We will enjoy it. I imagine there will be a lot of walking, so maybe there's a change for some loss! I will definitely try to avoid some of the breadier and pasta type dishes, but no promises! Some of their food is just so good. I don't plan on drinking too much, since their drinks are so expensive, anyways. Their desserts are usually pretty small, so if I do get something, it won't be like I'm eating a whole cake, or anything. Except, the soft-serve is on tap 24/7, so that may be an issue...

I need to go on a cruise....

As far as training goes, I am adding some things to my regimen and just tightening up on what I was already doing. I don't know how much of a run it will be for me, probably more of a forced march with some jogging mixed in. There will be obstacles as well. I am competing against myself and plan to be in good enough shape to be happy with my performance and enjoy it. Don't take that to mean I won't be pushing hard, cause I plan to.

Enjoy the cruise TJ, bizzybee that is an epic idea. Thanks for the tip.

Haven't been to Muay Thai for a while. Today is my first day back and man it was rough! My instructor's idea of "breaks" between drills is to do progressive sprints and burpees with a 30-60 sec "rest" as he gives us instructions for the next drill. I thought I was going to pass out, but I kept pushing and even found my second wind. End of the session, I was drenched but was felt great!

    Happy TB Thursday Folks!

Good planning, good training and good eatin everybody. Keep on Jammin'!
Heron - Good results on the testing. It's great to know definitely what you need to do, and I always found it interesting on how far off most of the other methodologies are.

My standing workstation was delivered yesterday at work, have to get IT to come move my computer and Housekeeping to haul off my sitdown desk. Had my end of year performance appraisal yesterday. Boss is happy, patients are happy, results of review outstanding. Back to work. Had a good discussion about how I can get some relief from patient care on the wards and spend more time doing fitness training both for adaptive athletes and the inpatient population. May get some progress on that front this year as hiring process underway for replacement therapists (we are down 2 at the moment) and need at least 2 more RTA's.
Interest is building in the community for our adaptive sports clinic we are doing next Monday as well. Will be doing the meetup from motel on Sunday since clinic starts early and have to get there even earlier for set up. don't want to have to do the 2hr drive then roll in to it all. So heading up Sunday after noon and getting some admin done with out weekday interruptions. Stay the night and be rested and ready for the clinic on Monday.

    Have a great day Folks. B B)
