Hello everyone,
I ran my first half marathon in 2:00:56 I'm so so happy and proud of myself. HERE IS THE ISSUE. As soon as I finished and started walking - about 20min later I felt a bad pain on the outside of my left foot. It is NOT swollen and NOT black and blue. It does not hurt to stretch but DEFINITELY hurts to walk on it. HELP!!!! I am going to wait a few days and ice it / stretch it but I don't know whether x-rays are necessary.
any advice would be great!

Icing is good. Is it in a spot where you can massage it a bit by rolling your foot on a tennis ball?0

Some pains after racing max effort are pretty normal. Do the ice and massage and train real easy for the next week. Don't worry about it unless it is still hurting at the end of the week. Then a visit to the Dr. might be in order.
Also, great job running that race. that is a good time, moreso since it was your first time. I'll bet you have many more much faster times coming up in the future.0 -
it doesnt hurt to touch or massage which is why i thought it was weird - i will definitely try that though
i'm taking ibprofen / aleve too - icing every 20min on and off
of course I google it and it says "stress fracture" and I freak out!!!!!0 -
I had a stress fracture in my foot once from too much too soon. Running was impossible, walking was extremely painful. If you didn't feel it until 20 minutes later then I really doubt that it is a stress fracture.
Treat it as described above and don't worry about it for a few days. If it still hurts at the end of the week then think about seeing a Dr.
Even if it is a stress fracture in the foot, which is unlikely, it won't show up on xray for a week or two. Don't stress about it right now.0 -
