Back in the saddle...

Today I am one week back! (as far as healthy eating goes).
I waited a week to post because I am tired of posting recommitment posts, only to fall off the wagon after one or two meals!! (Yikes)
I realize that I still need to be diligent, and focus on each and every meal decision.
But for now, I am proud of this first mini-milestone.

Great job getting back to it. No matter where you are in the fight, if you haven't given up, even if you're mentally getting it together, you're still light years ahead of the person not trying! I had to take off about 3-4 months physically to get my head back in the game. I'm still not there 100%, but I'm further today than I was yesterday. Kudos and supportive hugs, and all. You can always spam me with recommitment posts!! I'd rather see those than the posts saying you give up!0

That saddle is tough to say on, isn't it? Glad you're back on it. It takes a lot of strength to stay there.
The way I look at it is this: We didn't get "this way" overnight. We're not going to lose all the weight overnight either. A lifestyle change takes time and lots and lots of practice. As long as the overall trend is downward, you're still making progress. Even with a few months here and there of regaining some lost weight.
I applaud those who can do it all in one burst, but I think there is also a lot of value in doing it slowly and learning to manage "setbacks". For me, this is a much more realistic way of dealing with a whole life change. By taking your time, you're learning to deal with the emotional challenges that come with facing your new body, and living a different life, and getting used to all the nuances that entails.
So, don't beat yourself up! Some people are brilliant at just getting it done, and some people need to go slow. Both are perfectly acceptable. I envy those that see quick results and can keep up that prolonged energy for a long time. But, comparing yourself to that is just that bad voice inside your head reaffirming the feeling we all feel.
Enjoy your ride! However it goes!0 -
Every milestone counts even.if it's one you are passed before. Good luck0

Lise - I love that - EVEN IF IT IS ONE YOU PASSED BEFORE... I will have to remember that...0

Like i said in my blog last week, the fact you are out on the road walking means you have not given up. You only fail when you do that0
