Meditation
The Scriptures are too long to allow for my meditation to post here. My meditation can be found on my blog www.chaplynne.wordpress.com -- or just read the Scriptures and pray.

Prayer: Almighty God, Open my eyes that I might see. Open my mind that I might understand. Open my heart that I might make your words a part of me. May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in your sight. Amen

Romans 2:17-29
King James Version (KJV)
17 Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God,
18 And knowest his will, and approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law;
19 And art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness,

20 An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law.
21 Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?
22 Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?

23 Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God?
24 For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.
25 For circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision.
26 Therefore if the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision?
27 And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfil the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision dost transgress the law?
28 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:

29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

Prayer of Encouragement

Almighty God, forgive our arrogance and hypocrisy. Help us to meditate on your law day and night that you might transform us for your glory. In Jesus name, Amen

Conclusion
Thursday, Ordinary 31, Proper 26 zeroed in on the simplicity of turning our lives over to God, so we can be indwelt with the Holy Spirit. Paul accused the Jews in Rome of being arrogant and hypocritical professing they had the answers while behaving inappropriately. They preached honor and they stole; faithfulness, but they were adulterers, and presumed to direct others, but pointed falsely in the wrong direction.
God is boss of our lives, if we let him. Joshua learned that lesson well—study, meditate and things will go well. That is not to say there will not be obstacles and trials, but God will give the victory to those who are faithful. Just as God promised the Israelites that the land would be theirs, God called Joshua to lead them on the last leg of the journey.
Because Joshua had been preparing for that moment for a while, he was ready to hear God’s words when spoken and then had the courage and strength (with God’s encouragement of course) to take immediate action.
In my small way of writing this study each day, I have found myself revisiting the words I have read and mulling them over reflectively. Meditating. In the morning and at night. I wrote the story of the Three Miracles, but in truth, there have been many more miracles than that.
I recently had MRIs done of my back injury. The doctor sat to review. He asked me how I felt and I told him about the pain I live with, but that I try to ‘walk’ every day. Some. He looked at the MRIs and shook his head. I’m amazed that you are walking. Be careful. I’m not sure we can consider surgery with that many herniated disks; I’ll have to consult my supervisor. Of course, they agreed that surgery was too dangerous. But he cautioned me to look for signs of beginning paralysis.
Every day I can get up and walk (even though it is a pittance) and sit up and type is a miracle. Every movement that doesn’t turn me into a paraplegic is a miracle. And there are dozens more—sometimes small things, like a parking space in front, or the timely arrival of exactly what we needed. Sometimes there are huge things. Like health and fitness. Salvation. Financial security. Relationships. But in all things, God is boss. If we study and meditate on the Word of God, watch out for transformations.
Go out and be ready for God to do mighty things in your life—for the glory of God.*
