OMG.... It's been a few days since I've had the umph to post. I've been reading the threads and catching up with everyone. Please know... even when I don't post, I'm thinking and reading. Due to some mental things going on...... sometimes, I just don't have it in me to post.
Tonight I start my life skills classes for my gastric bypass. I'm excited. Can't wait. I've started eating more protein rich foods and am cutting out the simple carbs. I most definitely feel a difference in myself. Less spacey for one. I also don't feel as bloated or sick after eating.
I cannot wait to see where the scale/dumb metal box has me on Sunday morning. I'll be back on track one week at that point.
Wishing everyone a happy and healthy on plan Wednesday!!

Hi Carrie, I totally understand the not having it in you to post. I've had that a lot lately. I'm so happy for you on the gastric bypass and especially the life skills classes. They didn't have anything like that when I had mine back in 2006, we had to learn it on our own. It's great that you are working on your eating pre-surgery. It will make it much easier post-surgery.
Hope everyone is having a great day.

Good afternoon, folks!
Carrie, I'm glad you're already seeing some benefits from the changes you've made! That's always nice. Congratulations on starting the class! One step closerI understand the not having it in you to post sometimes. Glad you were up to it today.
Today is shaping up to be better than yesterday for me. I'm tired (stayed up too late watching election results roll in), but otherwise feeling quite well and not nearly as hungry as I have been the past few days, which is a welcome change.
Take care, everyone!0 -
Good luck with your life skills classes. It is quite awesome to see that you are implementing the changes in your life and that they are already making a difference.
I am with you and the others on here that at times you just don't have the gumption to say anything or you don't feel like you have anything to say. We all go through those times, but it is good that you still are on here looking and lurking. (Sometimes lurking is just great). What matters is that you are getting the support that you are looking for.

I too have been cutting out simple carbs...it have been nothing short of magical in regards to relieving my chronic knee pain. I feel like a new woman (all from this one alteration in food choices). I love bread...in fact, I have referred to myself as a bread-a-holic...but to keep the knee pain away I will gladly skip the bread. At age 34 I need to stay mobile.0

Hi Carrie,
Good luck on your bypass prep. It's a brave step forward. I can't wait to hear how everything goes.0 -
The classes sound excellent and well done on making changes. I have upped my protein and seem to be running at about 34-33-33 now interchangeably.
For me I tried out a new gym with my friend I used to kickbox with and with whom I am doing the superhuman games. The gym is AMAZING. I joined on the spot so now have two concurrent memberships but I figure I used to spend a fortune on crap food so am simply transmuting my money elsewhere for my own good.
Ended up setting two PBs. I managed to bench 47.5kg for 2 reps (having worked my way up from 10 reps at 20kg rather than only doing 2 reps the whole time I was there lol) and shoulder press 2 reps at 32.5kg. On top of managing 60kg deadlifts this week am feeling quite good considering Ive only been lifting a couple of weeks0 -
Wow, lots of good stuff here! Buried (finally!) at work for at least a few days. Hope to have more time to check in soon. Hugs, Carly in cool, windy, and momentarily awesome Oklahoma0
