Something is very wrong in badgerland. Yesterday had a hankering for a cherry coke. It's a rare thing I drink fizzy now except fizzy water. Opened the can and drank half then binned it. Really didn't fancy the rest.

Today I'm.Working out twice so knew I'd be eating about 1750 calories and could afford a treat so I bought a malteaser bar after scanning several for lowest cals and a can of cherry coke thinking.if I just drank half again I could 'afford' both. So drank half the can and binned.it. Started the chocolate and got.halfway through and felt.vaguely.sick and just couldn't face it anymore so I binned that too.

Wasn't til I got home.I worked out what the problem was....I was craving ham and cottage cheese which I'd had planned for.lunch. Had that and felt.way better. But honestly? I don't think.I have ever binned chocolate in.my.life. Seems the less sugar I'm.having the less I'm.craving. Weird

Anyway must get.on with the housework before the school run as.I'm back at the gym.again tonight. How's.you all anyways.

That's nice. I've noticed that a bit, too. I was craving donuts like mad this morning, but decided it wasn't worth it. So glad, too. Feel better after having my hummus and English muffin... I haven't been able to eat eggs in the morning lately... My stomach is weird and foods go in cycles for me.

I think my thyroid OTC supplement is finally starting to kick in. I'm having less problems getting out of bed in the morning, and I've craving salt less - and becoming more sensitive to it. This morning, with my hummus, I kept thinking about I liked the flavor so might buy the premade stuff, dump in a can of chickpeas and add some more garlic, etc., but leave out the salt... I can tell you I would have NEVER thought of that before.

I like keeping dark chocolate chips in a tin in my purse. Each one comes out to about 2 calories... So a little nip here or there and I don't crave it. And with all the weights and such you're doing, it's not surprising to me at all that you are craving protein!

I like this change in me...hopefully you do as well. I know that I eat far, far less chocolate than years ago (when I really got started on all this)... I could finish the large size jar of Nutella in a few days...and could eat multiple king-sized candy bars in a sitting. I still *can* or could weeks/months ago, but while the initial craving might be there, I can recognize it now for what it is - more just a signal my blood sugar is lowering - or a reaction to stress... I hope this kind of thing stays around....

Funny how habits change and this is proof that they can. My post surgery diet has been purely protein and vegetables. I had one Halloween candy and felt sick, so there is still a big bag sitting in the cupboard, that's never happened before. I am getting bored with what I have been eating and need to change it up, so going to be looking for lap band friendly recipes and ideas for breakfasts and lunches. I love that dark chocolate chip idea, dark chocolate is good for you, never thought of chips, good one!

I am doing fine, feeling very energetic and I too am amazed at the stuff I used to eat. I find shopping really bewildering.. so much stuff that we really don't 'need' on the shelves and so much that is plain out unhealthy. It's funny how your perspective can change.

I'm doing well today! I've been tired all week, but somehow I barely slept last night and I'm feeling as energetic as I have this whole week. Maybe because the sun is finally peaking out.

I wish my tastes would change! Halloween candy sitting around my apartment is dangerous. My resistance is not very high right now. I've gotta keep telling myself that each time, it's a DECISION I'm making. This isn't something that happens *to* me. I do it to myself. I'll try using my "just wait 15 minutes" game with myself again to see if that helps me make the right choices. Just wait 15 minutes! Okay, that wasn't so bad, 15 more! Etc.

    Good morning Everyone!!!

I'm so glad to see everyone doing so well this morning, physically, mentally and emotionally. I know that food can trigger lots of feelings that lead to an emotional roller coaster. Like this morning... I know this is TMI, but I will share anyhow... I started my cycle last night. I'd been doing great by just getting my carbs from fruits and veggies. Yesterday was national NACHO DAY.... we had nachos with all the fixins at work. I ate about 3 oz of nachos with about 1.5oz of cheese. I felt totally ill afterwards, but owned it, logged it and now that my cycle started after I got home from work, understand why it happened. I crave salty crunchy carbs at that TOM. Next time, I'll recognize it and do better.

I can't do fizzy/carb beverages (ie sodas) at all. I will drink gallons if I get started. I've never thought of doing chocolate chip pieces. Do you do dark chocolate mini's or how do you do them? Do tell.

Hope everyone has a great OP day!!

    Hugs,

    Good morning everyone!

I love chocolate. There was a time when I could eat and eat and eat it. Chocolate ice cream was my particular downfall. My son took the whole family out for ice cream the other day to celebrate getting his first car. He ordered me my usual chocolate treat but in a small instead of my usual large since he knows how hard I am working at losing weight. I couldn't even finish half. The kids kept asking if I was feeling ok because I have never let chocolate ice cream in the bowl. It was definitely tasty and fit into my calories for the day but I ate some and was able to stop before I felt sick. I'm not going to lie...it was awesome! I had been avoiding it and getting my chocolate fix in other ways since I thought it would cause me to back slide but now that I have done it I can have my little treats and not worry about it as much.

I was just unloading my groceries this morning and I noticed over 3/4 of it was fruits and vegetables. That would not have happened a year ago. Our menu was seriously lacking in vegetables and it was a real chore to get the boys to start eating them but now they seem to have realized that the veggies aren't going anywhere and if they don't eat them they had better not come complain about being hungry.

I'm doing pretty good mentally. I just need to really focus on water/sodium so the scale isn't skewed in the morning. I bought coconut and almond flour and Splenda to try a low carb chocolate cake-in-a-mug recipe I found.

In general I know I need to cut down more on my processed foods. But baby steps.

For the dark chocolate chips, I get either the Hershey's Special Dark, Ghiradelli (I don't like these but my guy does) Dark, or Nestle Toll House Dark chocolate chips in the baking aisle. I have really small tupperware containers, and I just keep maybe 100 chips in one in my purse. I weighed out the chips and counted several times to average the calorie hit out. The are about 2 calories a piece. I typically eat 5-10 at a time so it is easy to calculate. Then I just type in the odd decimal number that matches my calories. Like yesterday, I had about 40 chips total (I ate ten for every round of pushups I did...LOL). So that was roughly 80 calories. I keyed in a 1.2 serving of them into my diary, which was 84 calories. I could have tweaked it until I hit exactly 80, but I figured that was margin of error. I find that if I bite and chew the first 5-10, I can suck/savor any additional ones I eat, sometimes 2 at a time, sometimes 10....

But I always close up my container and put it away after my allotment. It takes the sweet edge off, kills the craving, and I can move on. When I first started this (I don't remember who I stole the idea from), I ate a lot more at once! Now, yesterday, I had 40 total over the whole day... Not even craving them today...

So glad to see all the improving health choices above. For me, the right concert of supplements to support my conditions seems to make all the difference!

I love this idea! I'm totally going it. Me fave chips are from Whole Foods. They're about 70% chocolate and they're chunks, not chips. Going to calculate those when I get home. Thanks for the inspiration!
