VSG on Monday 11/10. I miss my NSAIDs!!

I'm less than 48 hours away from my surgery. I've been following the pre-op diet pretty well and I've lost 17 pounds in less than 2 weeks. But since I had to stop taking my prescription NSAIDs last Monday my joints have been been getting worse. Things weren't too bad until Friday, but now the Tylenol I can take is just making any walking or standing barely bearable. I'm actually looking forward to the pain meds after surgery now.

Between that and the polar vortex forecasted for the end of the week it makes me nervous that it will be difficult to get all the walking in that I need to.

I'm trying to stay calm about everything, and keeping myself busy this weekend has help. I'll just be glad to be on the other side of it.

You'll get through the surgery fine and then you'll make it work with the pain and the walking regardless of the roadblocks you face. You've done so well up to now, I know you'll find a way.

Walk the mall, brave the cold, join Planet Fitness . . .

    You'll figure out a solution!

I'll be thinking positive thoughts on Monday for you!

At the beginning you shouldn't walk for distance the first week. If the vortex makes going outside too cold just walk your hallway. I only walked inside my house for the first two days and then I moved out to my driveway. I'm 11 days post surgery and today was the first day I went back to the walking trail.

You'll be on the other side before you know it, and you will be fine! I had chronic back pain before I lost any weight and had surgery. I was prescribed muscle relaxers because it was that bad. I also had bad knees and my feet hurt if I walked even a short distance. Now, after losing over 200 lbs, no more pain, and no more pain meds. My hope for you is that as you lose weight, your pain decreases. Good luck to you, you are almost there!! Keep us posted as soon as you are able to and let us know how you got through your surgery.

    Thank you everyone!

I came home yesterday afternoon, so just 1 night in the hospital. I'm keeping up with my pain meds and I slept great last night. Had my first "breakfast" this morning, 3oz shake and my supplements. Things seem to be going real well. So far just walking around the house.

And napping. Let's not forget that. I didn't have the best roommate at the hospital.

Good deal. Glad to hear it all went well and you're doing well. Oh yea, the napping becomes a habit lol. The pain meds put me out.

They gave me a liquid oxy-something or other. It doesn't make me as loopy as the morphine did, but I'm still pretty wiped. Right now focussing on my liquids and protein today.

I needed to take short naps for about 10 days after surgery. I guess our bodies will just tell when we need a rest. I'm glad you're doing so well.

My 1st day/night I was in the ICU w/out a roommate...thank goodness but the bathroom was super tiny.
The next (late) afternoon I was moved out of the ICU and was brought to another floor.
This room was huge...actually had a couch bed whereas the ICU room had this piddly pullout chair, felt awful for my husband but this (new) bathroom was huge!
Although my (new) room was clear to the other end, we would hear this elderly lady hollering every few seconds, it was shortly there after that I got the clearance to go home.
Thank goodness, I don't know if I could've dealt with that all night

I just had a huge room.....couch and all and no room mate. Huge bathroom but had to go in a jug so they could measure the amount. Aggravating lol.
