Still in liquids stage.. dreaming of meat. :(

I dream a lot anyway, but starting week two after surgery, my dreams have been throwing in bits about food a lot more. My dream last night involved me driving around in a really old 1951-ish LeSabre like a boss, greeting all these strangers as though I was in the Truman Show while I chewed on various things like teriyaki jerky, brisket, squares of steak.. it was pretty nice. I woke up feeling like I could taste it still.
And then I got up and put some whey protein in my coffee and cried. Haha, just kidding, I didn't really cry. But it was pretty unpleasant compared to the red meat I'd just been dreaming about. Because, you know, CAN'T EAT THINGS WITH ANY TEXTURE. Aaaah! Someone please tell me that they were eventually able to digest steak at any point after their VSG or I might die inside.

Not only can I digest steak, red meat is a regular part of my diet and it doesn't bother me one bit. I was concerned about the possibility of not being able to eat two things after surgery - red meat, and spicy food. Fortunately I can eat both with no problems, and I often eat them together (I love srichacha on my steak). Don't worry, before long you will be able to eat food that you can actually sink your teeth into!0

I feel your discomfort!
I just started incorporating soft cooked veggies and for the past few weeks all Ive wished for was to crunch on something...anything
I told my husband don't be shocked if I turn zombie and start chewing on his (chicken) finger...everything tastes like chicken, right0 -
It will come...in time. You just have to get through the various "phases" of your program. Once I realized that, it helped me a lot. I stopped thinking, "I can NEVER have xyz again." You will also realize that some foods are worth the wait...and some are not. But...I feel your pain! I dreamed of foods too and some even talked back to me!0

I am 8 weeks post op, and the only I CAN'T tolerate is beef. Honestly, though, I don't miss it. I was sad at first because I love beef, but now I have no desire to eat it. There are so many other meats that I enjoy (that I HATED before), that I'm completely satisfied. Try not to worry about what you won't be able to eat later, because more than likely, you won't want it anyways.0

Good point. I think its just the liquid stage that's making me crazy. I just wanna chew stuff, I don't even care what it is at this point.0
