Antiseptic creams - not too much works better

I talked about using antiseptic creams with the nurse when she took out my staples. I got some good advice. She used the analogy of putting water on a sore. Some is good, too much the skin swells and looks like a cauliflower. I used the cream sparingly and the incisions healed without scars.

    What did you use?
Im 5 weeks out and all my threads/glue came off over a period of 3 weeks but now Im left with many scars and skin that looks like I have a dark welt where the stuff came off.
Nothing was suggested for this situation from this office  but I wish they had

After the two weeks of healing(mostly when the glue bandage came off), I started using cocoa butter on my stomach. To help with both scarring and stretch marks just in case. The stretch marks aren't half as bad as they were, and the only place you can still see as far as incisions are the big one. It still as an indention. I know a lot of folks hate the smell of cocoa butter, but honestly, I use it for everything from hand lotion to this lol.

Well, James...at least if youre not acting sweet to your wife, she can smell the sweetness from you :grinning:

I used a ni name polysporin. Just to keep the infection down. Only one small area where they did most of the work shows the rest are almost gone now.

Yep, but since i've been out of work i've been a cooking, cleaning, stay at home dad lol. I love the stuff.

I totally missed the part about you having staples. I didn't have staples. I was sutured and glued shut, but had no issues with infection. I thought I did, but learned it was the sutures being pushed out of my body. Had to trim them daily. It was kinda cool though.

It must be a "guy" thing to think that is cool :grinning:
My sutures kept getting stuck/hooked on my clothes and sometimes I could even feel them scratching me as I'd move around (in bed)
I was too afraid to mess with them for fear of pulling them off prematurely so I was super happy when they all eventually came off on their own...sounds like mine hung on longer than others

My stitches \were very small--and I was lucky so was my main cut---maybe an inch long. The staples I had were inside only.
