Happy Saturday Folks. Just closing out the month in anticipation of the December Challenge. Hope all of you are having a great weekend. It's looking pretty good for me. Get to move my weights up on the deadlift this Sunday, and have a date Sunday Afternoon, meeting at Whole Foods for Coffee and a chat. If all goes well will ask her to dinner at a place I know not far away that is paleo oriented on the menu but doesn't make a big deal about it.
Today is the first Saturday in a while I feel rested enough to hit the dusty trail and get some stuff done. Got to get headlight changed on the car and will probably get it washed and waxed as well. Her Highness Rosina (a Chevy HHR) is overdue for a tidy up. Staying away from Walmart and Malls.
Have a great day Folks!

Okay John, I'll need an update on your lady. And I don't mean the car!
Really loving the 2D Challenges! Helping me keep my head in the game. Today I'll do sunrise!
Happy Saturday everyone!!0 -
Happy Saturday Fat2FitHQers!
Great news John. Have fun tomorrow. My car needs a vacuuming!
I am with you Carol, I feel energized by the challenges and community. Thanks all.
Woke up with the spirit feeling great and ready to take on the day. Was greeted by several Spark friends' messages this morning. Heartwarming. I miss them all. Stomach was a bit uneasy after overindulging the last couple days. Great thing about holidays is they make you want to eat healthy following them. Not sure what is on the workout agenda for today, but I will do something. I need to clean the house and do laundry. BF wants me to run around with him for American Express Small Business Saturday deals. We'll see. I am over shopping!
Have a great day0 -
Oh, so you can add images now? Did the forums get an upgrade?
Yay me, I finished the first 30 day "plan from the shockwave protocol. I've never actually done every workout of a plan before. I'll have it generate a new plan tomorrow.
But need to add back inn more walking and a session or two of HIIT intervals per week. Since it's gotten cold, I've stopped my daily long walks- which included tons of hills, some of which I jogged/ ran. Haven't been biking either, again too cold, snowy, icy for that.
Kris- I had a second carry day too. Mom's 79th birthday was yesterday, so I'd planned for the two back to back.. Back on ultra low car/ carb Nite today.
Heron- half of my turkey carcas is in the pressure cooker now with your spices. I halved them as I can only do 3 quarts or so in there. Only drawback to pressure cooker is the size. Froze the other half of the carcas to make broth next week.

Beerbikegirl, Happy Birthday to your mom. Congrats on finishing the 30 days!!! I did a 12-week LiveFit lifting challenge awhile back and it was the longest I stuck with something. Great plan. I am reading up on low carb and have to admit I am terrified. Think I may need to ease myself into it. Nice gym:) I am embarrassed to post pics of mine. I believe the majority of the weights are at least 20 years old. I know I have some from high school so they are 30 years old! haha I have to have tools close by when the one machines cables get twisted and it creaks like mad.
Today was pretty good but cals were low. Didn't feel much like eating and been fighting some intestinal issues (TMI). Not sure what triggered it this time but ugh! Back and biceps today and mixed in some walking between sets. Still can't walk fast enough to get my heart rate up. Did find that I can walk faster when the treadmill is on an incline. Go figure. Because of John's challenge, leg work is on the agenda for tomorrow.

Happy Sunday Folks. Deadlift morning and Date day this afternoon. Have a great Day!
Kim- Congrats! and Nice gym.
Kris - Hope you're feeling better today. Take yor time on pushing the heart rate. 30 mins of comfortable walking is far better than pushing it too hard. Motion is the Lotion, for both muscles and joints. Keep it safe and sustainable.
Carol here is a pic of the gal I'm to meet today. Her name is Maureen.

John... she is stunning! Lucky gal to have her lunch bought by a true American hero! So tell us more about that Warrior Dash. I can't make it but I'd love to live vicariously through some folks here.
Kim - is that your home gym in the pics? You're such a beast!!! Love it! I'm cleaning out the garage as there is some great workout equipment buried under all the holiday decorations.
Kris: Do you do something active every day? Sounds like it. #jealous.
As for me, I have talked myself into going back to the gym regularly. I tell myself to do just a very lame/quick 20 minute workout - easy peasy. But I am SUPER proud that I've been working out every other day. Only 2 upper body, 2 lower body things. I will get fancier soon but right now it is mostly a mental thing. And it is working! It is helping me make better choices and feel better. WIN! Still battling cravings and laziness. But making progress. It is in a large way, due to you guys. Thank you!!!0 -
Heron - the broth turned out great. My hubby hates when I'm making bone broth as he hates the smell. Your spices gave it a wonderful aroma as it cooked, and the turmeric gave it a lovely color. Enjoyed a mug straight out of the pressure cooker.
Speaking of pressure cookers, just used mine to make short ribs. My first non-broth thing. Hubby is going to the packers game today and had the brilliant idea of making short rib sliders (well of me making them) I use a recipe that has to brine for several hours ( after the time to cook and chill the brine) & then braise for 4+ hours. Deciding late afternoon to make it for the following morning wasn't gonna work. Did all the prep work last night and then 40 minutes this morning in the pressure cooker. They are amazing. He's got the meat in thermos containers and is heading out. I love Lambeau for games but not in late November/December.
Carol- yes that is my basement. I've added pieces off and on for last 4-5 years ( 10 years if you count the treadmill). Makes it look like I'm some super workout person as opposed to the annual burst of enthusiasm, add something and move on not to touch a thing for months person I really am.
Loved the Back to Basics podcast! ( well first 45 minutes have to finish it). Absolutely understand where Jack was coming from in listening to so many podcasts and choosing the things you like from a variety of sources...which may not be the wisest thing to do. I also keep coming back to Mark Sissons 10 rules, which are very similar to what Sarah Fragoso & Jason Seib preach. And even Kiefer. I'm seeing an increased collaboration between those folks...as others in the Paleo sphere sorta fragment into other camps.
Kris- I know I function better low carb, so it's somewhat easy for me to stay that way. My issue is that I make zero effort to restrict calories. I'm often appalled by how much I eat versus everyone on MFP. Which would explain my slower than turtle pace weight loss. Which I'm mostly good with. I have so screwed up my metabolism by yo yo dieting hundreds and hundreds of pounds over the last 30 years, that I refuse to do that again. I'm trying to trust the process of getting healthy to lead to fat loss as a byproduct. Sometimes tho, I wonder if I should just restrict, restrict, restrict.0 -
Well Back from Deadlift, did the following After Dynamic stretch and warm up. 2 sets of 10X135, 1 - 9X185, 1 -7X205 1-5X225, 1-3X245, 1-1X255, 1-1X265, 1-1X270 1-1X275, 1-1X280, 1-10X185. Good news is I still had some in the tank at the end of the drop back set, felt like I could have gone 15 on it. But I'm all about injury prevention so let it roll.
Carol - You should be super proud of your work outs. The fact that you're there and doing something puts you in the top 20% of the population, and doing it with any sort of plan at all and lifting being included rolls you right up to the top 10%. U B Jammin'!
Kim - I am big on the optics of my plate, if its not full when I start (Edge - Edge) I'm coming away hungry, and restricted protein to the tune of CN is just not gonna work with me (though I applaud all who can make it work). Still plan to look into carb backloading when he finishes the 2.0. Restricting most carbs to night time makes some very good sense given the science.
Yep I concur with the Podcast, and the idea of whose advice to follow, not afraid of doing some n=1 but back to my basics, generally not going to eat something just because its good for me. I have to like it, so no vehicles for heavy whipping cream, and limited vehicles for butter. For me its about quality of life, TODAY. I recognize others are at a point where longevity is more important, it is a large function of age and family. No argument for folks whose goals are different than mine. Eating for health, can be significantly different than eating for wellness though. Why I tend to gravitate to the Primal Blueprint. Seems his philosophy is far more closely aligned to mine. Haven't started the Certification yet (was part of my original plan for this afternoon along with Bone Broth) maybe this evening
Have a great and Happy Sunday Folks! (I'm sure gonna)0 -
John, She is beautiful. She glows. Glad to hear you enjoyed the date. Can't wait to hear how it goes. WTG on the workout. Man, are you strong!
Kim, I hear you on the metabolism thing. Mine was shot from years of depriving myself with an eating disorder. That strength training plan I mentioned helped turn things around. I didn't count calories and when I finally did see how many cals I was eating 2400-2600 a day and still losing. It changed things for me. I just need to find my way back there. I have been struggling with eating right and too few cals.
Carol, I know I said it on your feed, but I am proud of you. You are doing great. Thank you for pulling me in. We can do this. Here's the thing with me, I find I have to do some sort of workout every day to stay with it. The trick is to not do too much. I tend to burn out quickly.
I took it easy today. Did the mini-challenge and some calf raises. Popped in a DVD and did a little of that. Finished with my stretches for the ACL. I've been working all day on the computer and need to hit the sack early. Food not great today. Besides a croissant, I only ate at dinner. Stuffed. See y'all tomorrow. A new month!!!0 -
Hello everybody so nice to read all the updates! Wal mart adventures, dates with a pretty gal, working out and eating, supportive boyfriends and so much more!
Kim, great setup I'm envious, and yay for the broth! We have a pressure but I've never used it. Those short ribs sure sounds good.
I don't think you should be "appalled" by how much you eat, I think you just need new MFP friends LOL. I eat on average 2100K on most weeks and I'm happy. I'm still trying the 1800K on some weeks thing and that takes some careful planning.
I think its great that we are all in this together!!

Good morning Heron! I didn't quite make it to 1000 cals yesterday but am not beating myself up about it. This tends to happen after a holiday of overindulging:)
Back to work I go. Always get a bit anxious when I have had a few more days off. Can't believe I logged in on a Monday. That is progress! Have a great day all:)0
