Trouble losing weight after baby

Just curious if anyone else is having trouble losing weight after the baby?
After the baby I knew I needed some time to heal after a long labor and delivery that ultimately ended with a c section, and since then I've been using the "well I'm breastfeeding" excuse, though I really didn't mean for it to be one, I honestly thought breastfeeding would really help me lose the weight but instead it just made me feel ravenous. I feel like I have been eating more since the pregnancy. The other part is I'm finding it hard to workout postpartum, first off I'm exhausted from never getting enough sleep and now I am spending more time than ever siting and lying around.
I bought a jogging stroller to start running again but so far have only used it a handful of times mostly because it's so discouraging to find myself struggling to run a single mile now when last year this month I completed my second marathon.
I am going to try to make more of an effort to actively lose weight starting by making sure I do start running again even if it is only for a mile to start with.
What do you all do to lose the weight? Was it mostly exercise based or a combo.of exercise and diet? I am just worried about dieting while breast feeding

My baby (she's my third) is 7 months now and I have been losing weight, but it's been very slow, and it's only been since she was 6 months that I really started to notice it.
I struggled to breastfeed and only managed to mix feed as she lost too much weight despite constant feeding, so maybe taking all the fenugreek, nursing tea etc messed up my metabolism or something. The same thing has happened with all my babies.
I had a straightforward birth, just gas and air and no stitches even, so I was back at the gym after my 6 week check and have been doing 5/6 sessions a week since. I do aerobics, kettlebells, PT, spinning, step etc and walk loads and I still have around 35lbs to lose.
I did pretty much the same after my second baby, and it took me a year to lose all the weight.
You can focus on eating healthily without eating too little. You need to make sure you eat enough for breastfeeding, but obviously it doesn't need to be more cakes . 500 calories can easily be a bit of peanut butter, a slice of cheese and some nuts or a yogurt.
You'll get back into running, don't worry. Just start slow to build it up again, and do lots of walking too. I don't know if this is your first baby, but when I just had one, I used to go for walks everyday. I still do now, but it's with a 5 and 3 year old in tow.
I'm tired, but I find the more I exercise, the more energy I have. I can't sleep when my baby sleeps as I have other children, and I still have to set my alarm to get my 5 year old to school.0 -
I totally hear you. Don't be too hard on yourself! Some women's bodies retain the extra 10-15 lbs during breastfeeding, and it can be hard to shake until you either wean or get further enough along. And, as they always say, your body took 9 months to put the weight on, and it often takes at least that much or more to take it off. In my own experience, it took me about 9 months to even feel like myself again. About a year after the birth I was still breastfeeding, was running or swimming almost every day, and was about 10 lbs away from my pre-baby weight at 15 months or so. I wasn't really logging, so I think that would have nailed the last 10 lbs. Then I got pregnant and so here we go again...0

It took me until after my babies quit nursing to be able to lose it, honestly. It was a fine balance of eating enough calories to not risk tanking my supply versus a little bit of loss and between exhaustion of babies not sleeping, etc, I just put it off until then. After the weaned, it was easier to work out- lighter breasts, babies could be longer away from me. After the 6 month mark and they started on solids it was easier as well. Patience, is really my only suggestion which I know stinks! Focus on good choices and doing what you can and it'll come when your body is ready.0
