My first 50 miler on pavement?

I just wanted to hear opinions on ultras taking place on paved roads. I just finished my first marathon in November and I'm very interested in ultras. The issue I'm coming across is that ultras are rare, especially the 50+ milers. I would like to do a 50K in the spring/summer and a 50 miler in the fall/winter. That being said, there is a gap in the list of 50 milers, the last one I could consider would be in March and then there isn't another one until a 50 mile race in Nashville, Tennessee. I'm relatively close to it and it's in November 2015. This is a perfect amount of time to train up for.
The course is 95% paved, which i'm alittle unsure about. I've been running almost 2 years and my training for the marathon peaked around 30 mpw. I've had IT band issues in the past and would hate to have them return. Running on pavement obviously increase wear and tear on the body so I was curious what you folks think about that being my first 50. Thanks!
